Depends on your monitor/card. It usually happens when the frame rate hovers just over your refresh rate. I don't get any tearing on my 60hz monitor with the 690. Did however get it when I had SLI 580s.

Ok. I ran the Bioshock benchmark for my superclocked 570 and I was averaging 75 or so fps on ultra. But when playing I noticed when turning fast, I saw the screen lag a bit. I just turned on vsync and it helped but I feel like I'm losing out on the real thing.

bioshock has a lot of issues with tearing and vsync. adaptive vsync was a good compromise for me in this game. there's still tearing, but it's not as bad

Download "D3Doverrider" It comes with Rivatuner when you install it. Open it up and click the "+" and add Bioshockinfinite.exe and then you should be good. It turns on Vsync and triple buffering. These options in the nvidia or raden control panel seem to not affect most direct3d games.

Looking at Wasteland and DayZ mods, I think that's the next step for PC gaming, gonna open up the sandbox genre with persistent online worlds, base building and perma-death to characters. Basically bringing 1st & 3rd person shooters into the MMORPG realm.

i agree with this somewhat but don;t underestimate the stupidity of the consumers..rmb that most gamers want baby linear difficulty themepark games many sandbox mmos with that kind of persistant world building are almost extinct..since alot people would rage quit from losing their shyt to gankers...DayZ is an exception because there really isn't much on the line.. when you die you can get most of your items back easily..in a real persistent world with levels, hard earned loot and alliances it wouldnt work..the only mmo i can think of that lets players build their world/aliances or wtv is probably eve online..dayZ appeals to a very niche crowd but you won't see masses hoppin on that bandwagon...and damn i need to try wasteland

Wasteland actually doesn't have persistence. your character doesn't save, and all the base stuff gets reset when the server restarts. it's probably for the better, cause DayZ had enough issues with persistence and people blocking everything with sandbags and barbed wire. these are issues these games have to deal with, and unfortunately there's trolls out there that just love to ruin shyt for everyone else

Arma traditionally wasn't an 'open' online deathmatch game. prior to Wasteland and DayZ, most of the missions people would play were large-scale co-op missions. when there was pvp, it was usually pretty well organized, between people that are willing to play honestly. it's like playing cards with friends, and you know if you look the other way, mf's ain't gonna pull an ace out their sleeve

it's also a game that people like to play kinda 'seriously'. I was hella intimidated the first time I played Arma 2 Free. I remember I got into the game, and right away cats on the mic were like "zero alpha niner multiple contacts at 034765". :damn: I ran to youtube to try to figure out what was going on. but when you figure it all out, it really is gratifying. it provides this organic experience that feels so authentic. if you take the enemy base, it's because you had a good strategy and communicated with your team, not because you followed a waypoint and a bunch of messages popping up on your screen

DayZ is struggling to not be a pvp sandbox. pvp will always be there, and it's a big part of the tension in that game, but Rocket wants it to be more of a survival sandbox. they're gonna try to do this by making the standalone so harsh that people are basically 'forced' to cooperate. it should be interesting. among other things, you're actually gonna have to poop :heh:

Wasteland is currently running on like 90% of the Arma 3 servers

Man, the PVP on the DayZ servers I've been on has been probably 80-90% of the focus for the people playing. The zombies ain't shyt compared to bandits roaming around in a humvee with M4's killing every survivor in their path. I haven't even gotten my bearings in the game so I don't know whether I like that fact or not.
