I fukked around with my fan curve and PCI fan (which I set at a fixed 80%) and now my 690 never gets to even 80c

I had two questions for you all though. Is it okay to game with a PCI fan set at a fixed 80%?

Also, is this fan curve too aggressive, or is it okay?

Yeah, that's fine. I've seen bios mods that allow it up to 100% and dudes pushing it that high. Whatever it takes to keep your 690 under 70c is what I'd stick with since that's the temp it starts throttling at.

Damn I don't know if my video card overheated or my CPU did but after an hour of playing Tomb Raider, i left to do something for a few minutes, came back and went to plug something into the outlet and my pc rebooted. I have my fan profile set up to where the fan gets more aggressive as the temps get higher so 50c fan is 50%, 60c to 65% etc.
Might be my CPU. I don't feel like reapplying thermal paste. I forgot I had arctic silver 5 and instead used some dynex paste on my chip when I had to switch my mobo out a few weeks ago.

gotta lube that thang up b

I have my fan @ 100% all times personally. It's the loudest fan but it gives a nice little hum I don't mind listening to.

Quick question?..can I ruin anything in a PC by just opening the case and looking inside?..PC was unplugged...both me and PC was sitting on tile floor...only thing touched was the metal casing on the outside and maybe the top of the power supply..didnt try to remove anything...just wanted to see how much space I had to put another card..

nah, you should be straight. if you're gonna do some work in there, touch the metal case/frame on the inside before you touch anything else inside. to be safe, keep one hand on frame, or get one of those wrist bands

it works right? if you broke something, you'd probably know

as long as you take basic precautions (don't stand on carpet, touch the frame first), you should be alright

if your psu has an auxiliary power switch, it's actually best to keep it plugged into the wall, and just make sure that switch is off. then it really stays grounded. but that can be kinda scary. and definitely unplug it if your psu doesn't have it's own switch

definitely don't have one hand in the computer while taking clothes out the dryer with the other :pachaha:
