thinking of this case for a freenas build

the computers in my college's computer lab are running off i7 2600, samsung 830 ssd and dedicated radeon 5xxx cards

never knew they were on that level

always assumed they were on some i3, 2gb ram, dedicated graphics shyt

If thats what you are using for BF4 thats why you are getting 30-40 fps. That processor and 99% of AMD processors are huge bottlenecks for EA games as EA games especially crytek engine and frostbite engine are more reliant on processor just as much or more so than video card.

For instance a fx-4100 with a 780 gtx will run worse than an i7-3770k with a 670gtx


Most main engines are like this. Unreal/Quake engine, the 2 most popular engines for the longest time were more reliant on gpu than cpu. But with new technology and ways to share the load more engines are going with even distrubution or more processor heavy.

I dont know too much about source engine so no idea how titanfall will work with your cpu/gpu set up.

Wow... I am truly disgusted by how bad the stock fan is..... It is unbearable. Seriously this thing is as almost as loud as a vacuum cleaner. I am trying to ask customer support if I can bring it back and exchange it for an intel.
unbelievable... they really really really dropped the ball on this one. Its supposed to be a nice CPU with great value but its not really great value if you have to replace the fan with a 40-60 dollar one now is it.
SERIOUSLY.... IT IS SOOO LOUD it makes me want to hurt someone. Not only that, but it runs extremely hot. 50 degrees celsius at idle???? WHAT!?!?!?!?
I am shocked.... I have always used intel and gave these guys a try because i heard good things.. now all i hear is really annoying loud fan.
Can't even enjoy my games unless the sound is cranked to ear shattering volumes.
I am so upset right now. I dont know what I am going to do. I am going to see what customer service can offer me.

The shyt I use at school at my lab is a fukking beast. Easily 5-6 gs for that workstation. I can easily run a large number of virtual machines on it at the same time and it doesn't stutter one bit.

I have a 8350. Came from an i5.

I highly recommend it but the stock fan does suck.

I have been using a Nvidia 550 Ti 2 gig o/c on my pc that is i5 2400 processer 8 gig ram. I dedcided to go buy a new V card today, I had the guy talk me into the Ati R7700 1 gig 5 ddr.Came home put it in went to play bf4 and yeh I see all the problems you guys been complaining about lag lag skip, cant hardly even get into the game.Put my 550 back in and BAM no problems.So going back to best buy to get money back. Not to mention I still ran 20 Fps more on this card than tha 7700 go figure.Not sure if its just ATI or what, or just some Nvidia also.

Some idiot said that on the BF4 forums.

People need to start clarifying what kind of i5/i7 they have/had. Theres big differences in them. Having a gaming i5 and going to ANY AMD should be a DOWN grade. But if you got the i5s(i5-3570k) they put in costco/best buy computers it wont be.

Correct, I had an i5 from a "store" computer. Yes, one of the newer, potent i5s is better for gaming but I don't use my computer just for gaming, thus I still recommend it highly.

are those your temps after it was 'freezing'? cause those are nowhere near high. worry if you see stuff getting up around 80c

does it happen in every game? it might have just been a wack server, and/or the buggy game
