Other than BF4 you can most likely chalk up any boosts to a clean install of Windows.

Edit:

Actually if you have additional monitors going you can also give credit to Aero being shown bushes.

Does throwing areo in the bushes really give that much of a performance boost?:ohhh:

I might have to try that when I'm back in town.

(Side note: I think somebody in here is from the Bay. I'm in SF on business. The weather :ohlawd:)

Well the upgrade doesn't seem to "reinstall" windows as everything was in tact the way I left it i.e. programs and settings still installed. Plus I monitor my processes and it's hardly anything running when I run a game. There's no way I would've let a whole 20fps get shaved off my performance due to lots of background processes, and defragged hard drive. I would've been realized something was up. My games are on a separate hard drive too.

where did you gain 20 fps? other than BF4, most games shouldn't see much benefit from win8

Catlateral Damage is a first person mischievous cat simulator, where your objective is to knock as many of your loving owners belongings onto the floor within a 2 minute time limit.

It’s a fun little game, and there’s a lot of satisfaction to be had from knocking things over and making a mess (That’s probably why cats do it in the first place!). The dev plans to add more levels (rooms) to destroy, but at the Alpha gives you free reign to destroy your owners bedroom for 2 mins. On your marks… get set… destroy!!

Brehs, if/when I make the jump to PC gamer, will I absolutely need to update to Win 8 or can I stay on Win 7 (especially since I see they're already talking about Win 9 for next year).

I make music on my PC as well, and I don't want to update my OS if I don't have to, and risk destabilizing my current smooth runnings.
