In case anyone's looking for a mid-range cooler:
I have been having an issue with my pc shutting down while I was playing games. My temp readings were @ 56° at idle. I got a Phanteks PH-TC12DX and did the install last night. It was a straight forward install, no hassles at all. I haven't played any games with it yet, but it did drop my idle temp down to 36-38°.
It's on sale right now for $50:

so about the asus VS24AH-P
- the extra real estate from the 1200p is freaking delicious, it really does make a difference
- the stand is NOT as wobbly and frail as reviewers and online consumers make it out to be, mine only wobbles if i manually shake and bake my table (ikea)
- mine came with no dead pixels
- the backlight bleeding is almost non-existent on my mine
- the infamous "glow" that haunts IPS screens...... i can slightly notice it but only if all my lights are off and the screen is like pitch black (which is never?)
- physical buttons to access the OSD >>>>>>>> capacitive buttons all day
- asus quickfit technology that they implement on their monitors is pretty handy i gotta say
- IPS really does have amazing colors, though i think i need to play around more with my settings to get my whites right
- if this thing had a display-port too
- freaking bright, which i think is normal on IPS screens- might need some adjusting here too though
- for $240 this thing is a gem![]()
how big is it![]()
I'm having some issues with downsampling. When I downsample, my colors are noticeably darker resulting in some games being so dark that i have to adjust the in game brightness which is cumbersome as I usually setup them up individually with sweetfx presets to give a certain look. Often this doesn't look as good as the image at a native 1080P resolution. I looked online and I saw post from people saying to change the HDMI setting in the AMD catalyst control center to YCbCr 4:4:4:4 but that doesn't seem to do shyt. I tried RGB 4:4:2:2: and 4:4:4:4 respectively and none work. I'm connected via HDMI. I read that RGB Full which is RGB 4:4:4:4 is best but it doesn't seem to have an effect or maybe I'm just blind.
On top of that I got another question, Mass effect for PC doesn't natively support gamepads. *realizes I'm talking to a uninterested group*
I assume when I use the DS4 controller, the program "DS4tool" converts the pad from Dinput to Xinput right?? Wouldn't that make it work the same as a 360 controller which is Xinput? This is the first game to give me problems. Every other title on my comp works fine with rumble.
Anyway there are modififed ini files that you can use to get 360 controllers to work since the game looks like it had them but were scrapped. This works fine with my beat up wired 360 controller of course but then when I use another controller, in my case a dualshock 4, there are some issues.
Force feedback doesn't work and whenever I hold down the zoom button which is binded to the L trigger, the x and y axis on the right stick seems to have almost no sensitivity. It can barely move but when I let go of the L trigger and free aim it works fine. The right stick is supposed to emulate the mouse I believe. Now on the 360 controller this isn't a issue. Why is that?? I have a feeling I may have to just go ahead and play the game with a KB/M... I haven't tried my PS3 controller yet.
Have you tried displayport or dual-link dvi? HDMI really isn't rated to push out that amount of pixels and its usually recommend to use a displayport or dual link dvi cable for 1440P. On my PB278Q which is a 1440P moniter there's a noticeable difference when you try hdmi vs displayport.
he's downsampling to 1080p though
