have the samsung 830 256gb SSD right now in my MBP17"

bought it almost 2 years ago for nearly $300. was worth every penny.

the only problem with SSDs is that once you have one, you want a bigger one

I threw 8.1 on my old machine. It's pretty cheap if you're a student. I also threw a nice dell touchscreen on it (in my opinion, it's a necessity for windows 8).

shyt sucks for multi monitor though, so that's why my main rig is win 7 only. 3 monitors on win 8

If you're one monitoring it, upgrade (if only for the updated dx11)
