you getting two?

Most likely just one. With how strong the thing is in addition to G-Sync I don't see the advantage of another. Seen benchmarks where it's pretty close to dual 970s/980s or exceeding them at 1440p and up. I may just do it for the e-peen though. :jawalrus:

edit: failed to mention comparison was overclocked Titan X vs stock dual configs.

I'm thinking about the titan xs, but I'd need 2. Dual 980s are beating it on almost all benchmarks I see.

When is the release date for the titan x anyway?

Today. You can currently get it from EVGA and directly from Nvidia. Think I'm going to wait for the EVGA HydroCopper version.

Probably not worth the upgrade from a GTX 980 right?

At 1080P? Would most likely be overkill.

I'm real tempted on these titan xs, but I'm gonna wait it out a bit. I wanna see what AMD has to offer. Plus $2K on gpus alone is a hard pill to swallow. Still, I'd be future proof for a while. We'll see...

Believe AMD dropping heat in June. The 390X is looking like a beast of a card but it will also be expensive. There talking about the top 8GB models being over $700+

$1500 is about what I'm okay with spending on gpus (I was already gonna get 3 980s if I was buying today). I wanna upgrade now, but I think it's best to wait it out. There's nothing I really wanna play on pc until May anyway (Witcher 3), so I don't need it now. But it'd be nice to have though. Have fun.

Yeah if you can wait it out that's def a good choice. Rumors have it the 390X is going to top the Titan X at a lower price. Thing is the ones that do will probably be the water cooled versions so if you are planning to cop two make sure you have the spots in your case for the radiators. They are also coming with HBM memory which is a first in GPU world. It's much faster than GDDR5 but to a point where it seems unnecessary for now. Nvidia won't have HBM till their Pascal chips come out, and then we'd probably be waiting for "Big Pascal".

If AMD comes with the heat in June I'll just sell my shyt and get their cards. Freesync and drivers better be up to par though. I rather take a performance hit and stick with Nvidia if their features are better than put up with shytty software.

yeah, I dunno how I'm gonna fit 3 radiators in my case, but I guess I can just put them at the top or something. I dunno. Or get a new case (one of those extra wide ones)

Anybody got the asus strix 980 cards?

These things are hilariously overclocked out of the box...

And is it possible to get the fan speed under 35 %?

That is the lowest I can get it to using asus gpu tweak and no other apps even work for fan control on these cards...not even msi...

removing the overclock makes it run cooler but doesn't do anything to set the fan speed...so i just set it back...will change when i do a fresh install tomorrow

so at idle the gpu is between 32 - 36 degrees...but anything that happens to ramp it up below 60 or 50 or whatever I set the profile to it just stays at that temp for a long time since the fan won't even come on...the ambient temp of my case is around 36 but with the gpu fan not running it takes about 2 hours to go back to the temp...

"B-b-b-but you tripping of sli'd gtx 980 setting at 32 - 36 degrees at idle and only reaching 58 at full load":dwillhuh::why:

You fukking right I am I want to set my fan to run at say 10% at least at all times...and my gtx 780's were ALWAYS around 38 degrees unless I was gaming...I shouldn't have to run the fans on a card at a minimum of 35% all the time just to get the temps to stay in the 30's:stopitslime:

I am getting the feeling that THIS is really how the gtx 980 is so power efficient...it has nothing to do with the actual cards and everything to do with the fans not spinning at all unless you do something...:francis:

Cards are hilariously beastly though...Far Cry 4 on max had my 780's like :mjcry: but these 980's chewed through it like :bryan:

and you guys
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/HxMc7P

I JUST built this this weekend, it was my first time building a PC. The graphics card was a bit of a tight fit but I got it in there. So far I'm very happy with it, the only games I have are Civ 5 complete edition, Sims 3, SW Battlefront 2, and Kotor 1&2.

$350+ for a video card?????? ....... nah
