I dunno if I can wait for the 390xs. Those titan Xs are calling me. I'm this close to making a purchase. I'm gonna try to be patient though. But Titan X SLI :wow:

Edit: I think I'm gonna do it :lupe:

So these gtx 980's I picked up are just slicing through everything :swagfather:

And then I get to Far Cry 4:yeah ok:

Game is running fine at a mixture of high and ultra settings...

But...

Gpu 1 = 98 % load...

Gpu 2 = 5 % load:yeah ok::dahellwhat:

Meanwhile, WB games is giving me 90 % load on both cards for Dying Light...

Bethesda giving me 85 - 90% load for both cards on Evil WIthin...

What in the fukk are you doing Ubisoft:dahellwhat::yeah ok:...

How is SLI still fukked up for this game going on 6 months after release:dahellwhat::yeah ok:

The latest update made sli even worse with Far Cry 4. There is terrible flickering now (everyone is getting it). Ubisoft can't do anything right. They finally fixed sli with previous patches, and then with the latest yeti patch they fukk it up again. What a horrible company :pacspit:

Not to mention Dragon Age: Inquisition is still fukked up in sli too 6 months later....:comeon:

Yeah that shyt had me bugged out for a minute I thought something was wrong with my card...

:russ: At the update because before it I was getting much better SLI performance on my GTX 780's...

With the Titan X card though it seems we are knocking on the doorstep of single card's that can do 4k, so these gtx 980's are probably the last time i will do SLI...

For z97, would you go ASUS and just go z97 or would you go MSI and go Z97a?

I've gone with ASUS motherboard and gpu's my last 3 builds and they have never let me down...

I'm not a fan of the 0db feature on the 980's I got but I set a fan profile that was like the automatic profile for the card except I let the fan's spin at 35% even when idle...

Not really an ASUS issue I see a lot of manufactures are going to this "silent" gaming crap...

I'd go with Asus. There is no Z97A chipset. You may be mixing up the boards model name.
Oh, I was talking about the usb 3.1 z97a mobos give you. Asus just released an A version too, but it's kinda low-end.

I like my current Asus mobo, but that MSI Z97A Gaming 9 ACK looks nice too. It has a ton of usb ports, UEFI, better sound on board, etc. It's a little cheaper too. It's so new, I couldn't find any reviews though. I'll probably stick with ASUS, cuz I like how they do things, but their onboard audio is lacking dolby digital live (which I really need for my headset) and there aren't as many usb ports on the z97 models, when compared to the x79 ones

The Titan X is almost there, but not quite. I looked into it and if you want ultra 60fps, even at 3K like me, you kinda need 2 of em. I'm really considering buying 2 titan xs this week. I'm gonna sleep on it though :patrice:

But yeah, I wanna avoid sli in the future too. It's causing all these headaches with these new games. It was good for a few years, then all of a sudden Fall 2014 hit and all these games are fukked up in sli. I don't know what happened. It seems like devs don't even test on sli setups anymore. It really pisses me off

Yeah, "Z97A" is just a model name they are giving it to i guess distinguish them from the non USB 3.1 models. These boards will most likely come with Asmedia USB 3.1 controllers. That board looks nice but I'm not feeling the single slot spacing. I also prefer Asus's UEFI over MSI's. I have the Asus Z97 Deluxe and I believe it has the same amount of USB's as the MSI one, (10).

Hopefully Direct X 12 improves on multi card gaming. Supposedly in DX12 multiple GPU's will be pooled together as a single resource. We'll see how that works out. :francis:

I've build about 3 systems before but this time around I want to build a system capable of quickly editing 4G files and the programs needed. I'm going to start shooting high Def and ultra highdef content and so far all my prices has been sub 2500 ( 4k monitor included). I was going to cop the new 5k Imac, but for how I would like it, it would run over 3k. I'm not sure if I will need a super powerful machine but I do plan on doing short films and soundtracks, untop of my photography work. Probably may end up doing most of my editing in 4k and downgrading to 1080, well I'll have to for the most part anyways.
I came up with this

Off top I know I need a bigger hard drive and a sound card.
Admittedly I haven't search very deep into the quality of the products and how it may relate to helping me with what I need done. If you guys can help me build a more efficient system, it'll be a appreciated. I'm gonna run adobe premiere and a lot of effects, on top of a lot of other visual/audio programs (pro tools). I need something that can handle 4k efficiently without hiccups.

@SofaRealDoe you don't need a 1200w power supply. you'd probably be OK with ~600w

also a 10,000 rpm HDD isn't really needed if you have a SSD
Yeah I thought about that but I remembered how my old systems would be heating up with a 600w.
I wanted to have the ssd dedicated to my video work and the other drive for everything else. I figured the 10000 was faster than the 7500 and would give things a tiny boost. I just went on pcpartpicker and revised and it seems like the 6 core would be better option for me, but then I'll have to get a 2011 board and DDr4 ram. The price was about the same or within budget. I tried looking into it the other night but couldn't find the tangible information that I was looking for.
I know the gtx970 has enough Cuda support for something like adobe but how much better would that chipset (ddr4 and 2011 board) compared to ddr3? I know it's obviously better, but will it get me nirvana breh?
