Hey everyone, I've finally decided I wanted to build a Gaming PC. I've never done so before. Never had the money etc etc. so I've been ordering parts since Black Friday/Cyber Monday and this is what I have.

Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-02 Mid Tower Gaming Case.
Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 5
EVGA GeForce GTX 970
i5-4590
EVGA 600B
Western Digital 1TB
SanDisk SSD 120 GB
Keyboard Mouse Combo
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB

If you don't mind could y'all give me your thoughts? I should get the Graphics card delivered tomorrow so hopefully I can start building this thing. I also bought a copy of Windows 10 and a cheap $20 Samsung CD DVD drive just to make my life easier.

If you guys could give me some advice or software I should download/purchase to help maintain this thing or just cool stuff for that matter I would really appreciate it. VPN, Torrents, Stuff to protect from malware and viruses anything would help really.

I'll definitely will be asking a bunch of questions soon, so thanks in advance!

id get a bigger SSD drive and 8 GB more ram

can find 250 gb SSDs for like $10 more than 128 gbs now

I agree with a bigger SSD. once you see how good that SSD life is, you're gonna want more space

What is the best Intel Processor to purchase? Currently using my old AMD Processor overclocked to 4.2 with an older motherboard. In the next month of two looking to upgrade my motherboard with an Intel.

6700K skylake.

I would recommend Haswell 4790K though, not worth the extra price when they perform about the same in games.

Drop the traditional hard drive all together and pay $250 for the 1TB mushkin reactor ssd on newegg.

Stick with 8GB and then add an additional stick later. Get the largest SSD possible.

Hard Drives in 2016 are for console cats, elite gaming is done on SSD.

I think we won't see a revision until at least 2017 breh

too bad. my wired 360 controller is on its last legs :mjcry:
new tomb raider drops later this month and i wanted to get one before then but ive heard it has a few issues that could possibly be addressed in a later model and that it has a steep learning curve.
have you gotten to toy with one? what say you? :patrice:

- im not going to get too much into VPNs but i will say that ive never used a free one that was worthwhile. a good vpn will cost money.

- as far as torrent clients, ive always liked deluge. its lightweight, 100% ad-free and (i believe) completely open source.

- the greatest protection against any and everything is yourbrain.exe:smugdraper:be diligent. dont click on fishy links and be wary who can access your information. outside of that, malwarebytes is extremely good and just about the only anti-virus i recommend to anyone who asks.

- steam is by far and away the most popular distribution platform on pc but there are websites that sell games cheaper (sometimes significantly). gamers-outlet.net, cdkeys.com and g2a.com are a few. check em out when you can. just be aware that you cannot get refunds on games activated on steam but not purchased there.

- if youre like me and have shyt for eyes, check out a program called f.lux. it adjusts the hue of your desktop according to the time of day and has been a godsend for me personally.

- ditto on the higher capacity ssd. mines is 500GB and if i had the cash i honestly would've gotten a terabyte.

- for hardware maintenance, hit up amazon or something for a can of compressed air (i like to buy em in bulk as they empty out hella fast) use it to dust out your pc every once in a while. also, it doesn't hurt to monitor your temps. there's a bunch of programs for that. i personally use one called speccy.

Yoooo, it's actually pretty easy to navigate the desktop with the controller.

This doesn't feel un-natural to me at all :banderas:

I am installing FEZ right now to see how it plays.

Lord Gaben has done it yet again :wow:
