So, my 1080s come tomorrow. Depending on how much I can sell my old shyt for, I think I might be getting that new 8-core i7, with a X99 ASUS Deluxe mobo. I don't need it (I still think my overclocked 4790k is more the adequate), but 8 fukking cores?

I've been thinking of a scheme. Maybe I'll sell my Vive with my 4790K Titan X SLI system, get a premium price, buy the Vive again (I don't mind waiting, I like the Rift better anyway), and buy the 8-core with the X99 ASUS deluxe. I might even make a profit

Or I could take apart my system and sell out the mobo, CPU, liquid cooling, and ram, and then buy the 8-core, mobo and new ram, and keep my case and PSU (I got best he PSU you can buy, the AX1500i)

I gotta do some research

I'm gonna put up my entire system on Craigslist (and maybe ebay) and see what happens. If that doesn't work out, I'll part it out. So shytty about the Titan Xs though. I shoulda sold them when the 980ti came out. The 1070 is fukking up the resell value. $1K cards now worth $350....

I've got a GTX 980 right now, but I'm tempted to upgrade later on this year just to cover myself for a few years. I'm only gaming at 1080p (Have my pc hooked up to my TV) for now. Think I should pull the trigger on a 1070 or 1080?

I'd wanna rock with one of those cards until a single GPU drops that can play 4k @ 60 fps.

Your gtx 980 is overkill for 1080p gaming...getting a 10 series card while gaming at 1080p is a waste of money...

No, I got two Titan Xs to play 1440p, all ultra, at 60fps. With Witcher 3, I was hitting 80-90% usage on both cards. If I had just one Titan X, 1440p, 60fps, all ultra, nvidia gameworks, etc., would not be possible. For most games, well....yeah, it should work, but some of these recent games, I gotta say no (ROTR, The Division, etc.). I bought 2 1080s to replace my 2 Titan Xs for a reason. I want that 30% boost (also, for the VR capabilities and new SLI bride as well, but that's neither here or there). With my 2 1080s I expect to hit 60fps, all ultra on nearly all games at 3440x1440p (which is of course more demanding than regular 1440p).

Now, if you don't mind turning down some settings and using a normal AA, then a 1070 should hit 60fps on almost everything at 1440p. My thing is, I don't like to turn down anything (except AA; I just use MSAA 2X, because at 1440p+ you don't need anymore AA than that)
