My 5K replacement came, and it's beautiful :wow:

No more turning on and off randomly or yellow tent on the left third :blessed:
That Dell Monitor right? How is Windows with 5K support these days? I remember it was giving people with that 5K iMac problems before.

I need to make the jump to a 4K/5K monitor soon...I am just not sure which one to go with. Problem is that I actually prefer smaller screens for my PC...anywhere between 22-24"

I looked up the price of Dell's 5K monitor. It's $2000. So @Ciggavelli dropped over $4400 just on graphics cards and a monitor and we know he's gonna upgrade once the next top of the line card comes out. He didn't need to buy a new mattress. He could have just slept on his pile of money.

Yeah, I got the Dell 5K. It's great in win10. The scaling is perfect. The text and icons aren't to small. Win10 does a great job at scaling at 4 and 5K.

Not that it's much better, but I got the Dell 5K for $1499 on Amazon.

Do you know what Panel is inside? It's most likely an LG or Samsung, but I like to double check before I consider.

LG makes great 27" panels.

Okay, brehs. EVGA Superclocked GB 1060 for $270. I didn't care about the OC and everything - it's just that it was the last 1060 in the store. Think I did okay?

Question for the multi-monitor crew: why did you choose that kind of setup as opposed to, say, a flatscreen TV (50-inch, 65-inch, etc.)?

I used to be the biggest proponent of triple monitors because of nvidia surround and work (I worked at home before). It's so immersive to game across three monitors, but it's all fukked up now, and I don't recommend it anymore. It's great for writing though (left notes, middle word doc, right email/music player/PDF). I went with an ultra wide for a while, but not all games support 21:9. I'm finally at just one 16:9 5K monitor now. The clarity and colors are fukking unbelievable. It looks better than real life. The problem is, you need two $1200 GPUs to run it at ultra/60fps in most games (and some games don't hit it at all).

I work in an office now, so I just need one monitor at home. So I was like, why not just get the best monitor possible? So I bought a Dell 5K :manny:

Three monitors is still king for productivity though. Nothing beats it. It saved me so much time while writing my dissertation.

I think most people get multiple monitors to have a bigger work space. with gaming it can be helpful to have the game on one monitor, and other stuff on the other monitor(s). streamers definitely need that. some games, like BF, have the option to display the map on a second display

Brehs,

I'm thinking about getting a desktop computer for the first time in over a decade. I want one primarily for the purpose of music software (beatmaking as a hobby) and mild gaming (light games performance wise like Diablo III, possibly Overwatch, and maybe more).

I know nothing of building a comp. or what specs are necessary for me to have a viable computer for the next 5-7 years. I would like to get more into PC gaming but I don't anticipate going extrahard so I don't feel like I would need an insanely powerful machine, so I feel like a mid level comp would be nice for me.

Knowing nothing about building a desktop I initially looked at the alienware site and looked at the aurora. do you guys think think this is a decent computer for me? or what would you suggest? what graphics card would you suggest for someone who would like to potentially get into moderate PC gaming?

Thanks.

Are you trying to install Windows or it just no longer boots into Windows after the new GPU install?

Is it an old board? You might have to update the bios with your old card. No update? Try setting your board to legacy mode if you must.

It all depends on how much you want to spend. It will take $600-$700 to get something decent with a small SSD and HDD.

$800 if you need a monitor
