that will work better for gaming yet still do great for editing. the 6800k will be slightly be better for editing but slightly worst for gaming - we talking 2-5 frames tho.
The extra lanes are important if you wanna sli. If you don't plan on having an sli system, I agree with @Ruck , the extra lanes aren't needed. I sli all my builds, so the 40 lanes are what I need. It used to be that you could get away with 8/8 pcie3, but not anymore. There's a substantial difference in 8/8 versus 16/16 with the new Nvidia Pascal cards. I went from 40K to 50k graphics in 3D mark, just by changing from my 4790K vs 6850k. The difference is real
Well, that opens up an interesting problem. If you might plan on going sli, get the 6850k (the cheapest chip that has 40 lanes). If you absolutely know you're not going with SLI, then get the cheaper chip. I like options, so I recommend the 6850K and X99 Asu's deluxe 2 mobo.

Don't get an sshd. The benefit is minimal. Go get you a 500+gb ssd. I have a 500gb Samsung Evo in my shyt and it's a beast. Great price for the quality.Im copping my first ssd and sshd for this beastly new system. Dont feel too bad, this gonna be my first time experience a non hdd system

Not true, SSHD can be extremely beneficial if the guy is only running a few apps (games) at any given time.
Hahahaha. I had an sshd, like 3 builds ago. It really isn't that much faster. Especially if he's using it as a storage drive. Plus it's probably seagate, and we all know about seagate.
