I know the laptop you are talking about. It will improve speeds tremendously.

Your Laptop has DDR3 1600 RAM, get another 4GB stick in there along with that SSD and you will be good for a couple of years :stylin:

link to some cheap ram? porfa?

What GPU you recommend for 400ish right now?

Lots of competition in that price range...

GTX 670 FTW or a GTX 680 if it can be found at that price. I actually seen a 680 last week for $380 at Tiger Direct and I'm thinking prices are bound to drop next week with the 770 coming out.

or

If you don't care for Physx, Cuda, Geforce Experience App, the upcoming ShadowPlay, and noise then I'd go with a regular 7970 or a GHZ if you can find them at that price. The GHZ edition usually comes out a few frames on top of the 680, and as you already know you also get a gang of games you can sell.

Edit: Forgot to mention the 1GB+ you get with AMD.

Which one did you go with? I'm mad ass fukk one of my shyts came DOA. Props to Tiger Direct though. Called them up to return it and it was no hassle, had a return label emailed to me within minutes. Now I got to wait till someone has the EVGA 780 SC's in stock, :sadcam:

Damn I don't know if my video card overheated or my CPU did but after an hour of playing Tomb Raider, i left to do something for a few minutes, came back and went to plug something into the outlet and my pc rebooted. I have my fan profile set up to where the fan gets more aggressive as the temps get higher so 50c fan is 50%, 60c to 65% etc.
Might be my CPU. I don't feel like reapplying thermal paste. I forgot I had arctic silver 5 and instead used some dynex paste on my chip when I had to switch my mobo out a few weeks ago.

Performs like a chip off the old Titan as well. In regards to overclocked vs vanilla the only difference is a different bios. None of the manufacturers cherry pick chips for their overclocked versions. I usually go with SC though cause from my experience when the time comes they are easier to sell and usually sell for more than the vanillas which are selling at the same time.

Here's a pic of my boxes though one was a dud, :pacspit:

Flash that bios and you got yourself an overclocked version. :boss:

:salute: to @daze23

I fukked around with my fan curve and PCI fan (which I set at a fixed 80%) and now my 690 never gets to even 80c

I had two questions for you all though. Is it okay to game with a PCI fan set at a fixed 80%?

Also, is this fan curve too aggressive, or is it okay?
