Just out of curiousity, what about web design is pushing you towards Windows as opposed Mac OS?
Mainly price and flexibility also haven't had a PC for years and I miss windows.

I am interested in getting involved in web design so I am looking into building a desktop PC as I currently have a Macbook. I've never built a PC before so I wanted some advice from you guys. Sorry for being an idiot but I have been mostly a Mac user for the last 15 years. I will not be using the computer for gaming.
I want a RAID 1 hard drive array for redundancy. Is it worth having a separate drive to boot from so if I have virus/malware problems I can just wipe the drive? Will integrated graphics handle high def video no problem? What version of windows should I run? How many watts should my PSU be? Do I need to buy additional cabling?
I was going to toss a build together but I am so clueless and there is such a huge variety of parts out there I was wondering if anyone would mind piecing something together for me. Is a $500 limit not including monitor realistic?
- do you really insist on raid? a solid state drive is pretty quick itself
- nowadays integrated graphics are pretty solid, i think they run 1080p smooth but you can get a low entry card just to lower the load on your cpu so you can run other stuff with ease
- i personally like the windows on ssd, storage on secondary drive for convenience (in case you do catch a virus); it'll be easy to wipe just the ssd
- windows version will be up to you, but i saw your earlier post saying price and flexibility, have you thought about going linux?
I had two R.a.t.s but they both broke. Spend goddamn near. $100 on a mouse brehs. I got I High end logitech now. It's greatAnyone else cop any high end mice? I just got my 4th one and I am pleased so far. Feels like a keeper.

I almost copped a R.A.T 9 four days ago. Had to decide between that and a Razer Mamba and I chose the Mamba.
I normally buy ONLY Logitech but I really wanted to move to wireless. Ever since I convinced my GF to get a wireless mouse (Orochi) I've been kind of envious cuz she's always shytting on me for having the cord drag behind the desk and the freedom whenever I used the mouse was VERY pleasing.76% increase huh

I still have my past 2 Logitech mice (MX518, G500 - both war treasures at this point) but I've been itching to go wireless. I copped the G700 months ago but the angle was weird for the shell, the sensor moved at a slight angle (grip?) and the latency was noticible. I got this Mamba for around $75 and it's been great. At 500hz there is no noticeable lag, unlike the G700 I had. It's also more for three-finger grip but having no wires is such a worthwhile luxury.I normally buy ONLY Logitech but I really wanted to move to wireless. i went wireless for a long time but recently went back to the wire.
batteries dying during a MP game is the wackest.
This too dictated my purchase. Had to have to wired option.
If I may ask what mouse did you have?
