http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f38.../124409-project-reality-2-game-announced.html

Since its inception over 8 years ago, Project Reality has built a large, dedicated community which has watched the mod evolve from a single forum post into one of the most successful and decorated modifications of its time. As Project Reality has continued to grow and branch out onto multiple game engines, one question has been continuously asked; Will Project Reality ever produce an independent game?

Well, today we are pleased to finally answer that question. The Project Reality team is proud to officially announce that we are currently developing a completely standalone PC game, Project Reality 2!

Project Reality 2 (or simply "PR2") will be a free to play multiplayer FPS PC game, based off of the critically acclaimed Project Reality modifications for Battlefield 2 and ARMA 2. Unlike our previous projects, PR2 will be a completely standalone game that will require no retail game to play. Our mission is to create the most realistic, immersive and demanding shooter within a virtual combat environment, focusing on encouraging teamwork through tactical gameplay.

Current Status
Project Reality 2 began in mid 2012 and is being created completely from scratch using Crytek's next generation game engine, CryEngine 3 SDK. This powerful engine provides tools able to create many stunning features to recreate and improve upon what you as Project Reality players have become accustomed to.

We are currently developing an initial Alpha build, which will hopefully be ready for internal testing within the next two months. Since Project Reality 2 is a standalone game, everything must be built from scratch, thus requiring more production time than PR?s previous projects. A public release is still away off, but don?t worry; during the entire development cycle we will be updating the community with as much news and media as possible.

Features & Content
Initially, Project Reality 2 will be a small scale, infantry based FPS with a comprehensive weapon handling system that will aim to be as realistic as possible. Map sizes will be 1km and 2km with an Advance and Secure (or "AAS") style game mode, similar to that seen in the Project Reality: BF2 and Project Reality: ARMA 2 modifications.

-Maps
The internal Alpha will have the Fools Road map which has been beautifully recreated in CryEngine, a true to life representation of the eastern part of Laskar Gar, Afghanistan and a basic training map available for players to familiarize themselves with the controls and other in-game aspects of PR2. Also under development is an amazing recreation of the Spanish city, Sant Elm, which will be featured in a future update.

-Factions
What factions can you expect to see in Project Reality 2? Well, currently we plan on implementing the British Armed Forces along with a Rebel / Insurgent Force. The United States Army faction is also currently under development.

-Weapons
The PR2 team has been working around the clock to utilize CryEngine 3?s enhanced performance to create the highest quality models and textures ever produced by Project Reality. Listed below are just a few of the numerous weapons and equipment that will be at your disposal.

Join the PR2 Team
The Project Reality 2 team is actively recruiting talent! Would you like to be a part of an established development team with experienced developers and many more contributors? Do you have a skillset with CryEngine 3? If you'd like to help out then please don't hesitate to submit an application. Whatever your skill, we want to know. We are always recruiting.

As you can see, these are exciting times for Project Reality! For further information please feel free to browse the Project Reality 2 Forums and become more involved. Also, be sure to connect to Project Reality 2 through social media to stay informed and receive up to the minute updates, the occasional leaked bit of information and more! We thank you all for your continued support.

I still don't understand the reason for delaying PC release. I keep eyeing the $260 GTA V PS3 bundle but I know I'll regret it later...

its to make the most money possible. The best version will be out on PC/PS4/XBOX One at about the same time.

Rockstar is smart...make the most without even announcing the superior version we know will come

just to be clear, there has been no confirmation of a PC version of GTA V. GTA IV had a notoriously bad pc port (I think it was ported by a 3rd party), we never got RDR, and MP3 was developed by Rockstar Vancouver with PC in mind (and was awesome on PC)

honestly from a business standpoint, it's more interesting there's been no confirmation of 'next gen' versions either. the conspiracy theorist in me thinks they're holding out to get people to double-dip. they definitely broke record with their current gen release...

edit: beat to the double dipping theory. :russ: honestly it's just wishful thinking though :sadcam:

The only thing stopping me from getting GTA5 is the fact I don't have any consoles left :russ:

I refuse to believe Rockstar wouldn't have their biggest game available on more platforms, it will easily sell in the millions on PC as well.

AMD supposedly has a Titan killer for under $600

Seen the performance rumors/benchmarks but haven't seen anything on price. It's also rumored to come with 4GB of ram over a 512-bit bus, :wow: Hope its everything its rumored to be and under $600. It'll bring much needed competition at the higher end and perhaps get Nvidia to drop its prices. Maybe then I can score a used 780 for tri sli on the low :leon:

I know AMD has a webcast wednesday

I believe Valve also has some sort of announcement this week. Probably the Steam box.
