The radio is destroying it. NY radio doesn't even play NY artists......Plus not playing any older HipHop to keep the newer generations knowledgable..............You got Rock Stations dedicated to the older music, Classic Rock etc.......We get the same 6 songs all day.

a BRONX Slum by I-87 NORTH
Huge Bronson fan. One of the most talented new commers. But I feel in order for NY to come back fully. We need new friendly nikkas popping up from all over the city. From all boroughs. From The Bronx, to Brooklyn, to Queens, to Harlem, shyt to even Yonkers, New Ro , n Mt Vernon.

I feel in this day and age, New York can pull off another mordernized version of the golden age. But what needs to happen is these old nikkas need to fall back. Cause I can just imagine. If a Wiz Khalifa type of cat started popping in Brooklyn. Sooner or later Maino would put the paws on him. Cuz he didnt feel properly respected or didnt get a shoutout or sum stupid shyt.

:snoop:
Edit: The story of Max B is a prime example of how NY nikkas egos dont let talent blossom. Jim Jones was being a straight up jealous bytch, who didnt allow Max to get out of his contract and do his own thing solo. Why? Jus cause the nikka was hotter than you in the streets and wanted to branch out? :why:

Them nikkas is always trying to kill & tear each other down. NY hip hop has a underlying hater culture. Its too hyper competitve. There is never co-existance and peace amongst one another.
Its funny, I was watching that 50 cent smack DVD and then it hit me. This nikka done beefed with every single rapper in New York :snoop: , you got Fat Joe putting the beats :pachaha: on papoose. Saigon snuffing Prodigiy, Maino beating everybody up, Tru Life :youngsabo: , Jim getting ran out the Rucker, Jay fukking Nas baby moms :wow: , even back in the day LL was beefing with everybody, The Bridge is over. Etc.
NY hip hop aint gonna come back until these old super tough ass gangster rappers sit the fukk down and let the new nikkas come and run shyt. I have a feeling the newer generation will understand that you gotta work together rather than tear each other down. There is never a collective movement in NY cause them nikkas got WAAY to big egos.

I absolutely disagree...New York was on top at one point even with all the different crews just sticking with their own close associates...

For example, New York was buzzing with the Wu Tang Clan, Boot Camp Click, Flip Mode, Def Squad, Infamous Mobb and etc

Some of these crews have well documented animosity, and yet everybody was somehow eating, and people were looking forward to the music...

In my opinion, producers determine which region is hot or not...Basically, New York does not have a sound capable of recapturing the throne at this moment...

The South, and those who imitate the South, have the best sound at this moment, and that's why they are on top...

Until New York producers develop a better sound, New York rappers will always be at the bottom of the barrel, despite being the most talented rappers (in my opinion)...

The best sound wins...

New York has made better albums than any other region apart from the Midwest in the last few years, mainstream popularity does not equal popularity.

And if we are being pedantic, Hip Hops biggest sellers are Drake, Nicki Minaj, Jay Z, Kanye West, Eminem, Lil Wayne.

2 of those rappers are from the East.

2 from Midwest

1 from the South.

Even under the MMG umbrella, Ross is the only big rapper there from the South.

This whole i am the world lets have unity shyt is one of the reasons why New York fell off as well, started aligning themselves with southern artists to much and kissing ass. New Yorks most hostile era happened to produce the best music, smh at people acting like the 90's was rosy.

In between Terror Squad smashing bottles on the camels head, Outkast getting booed at the Source and the whole Jay Nas animosity it wasn't all to peaceful.

One thing though is that New York ppls took pride in their own sound, something we don't see now.

The old NY rappers you mean. Labels cleaned house with most of them years ago.

Also, there are only about 8 - 10 hip-hop releases per year, its a numbers game at this point. Labels are only trying drop people who a guaranteed to appeal to the masses. I'm in the minority that likes Joe Budden, Styles P, and Joell Ortiz. They only gonna sell with a Lil Wayne feature. I could care less, I mostly listen to stuff pre-2010. I never got caught up in the hype. Rather listen to this Hell Rell mixtape than anything that dropped in May.
