No it is not. Lack of desire to pursuit wealth is an indication of submission. It’s a symptom that distinguishes a follower from a leader, an employee from a boss.

The idea that the pursuit of wealth is anything other than virtuous is the whisper of the devil. The devil, from the very beginning of the Bible, has been portrayed to be one possessing of knowledge far greater than that of man but only less than that of God. And he is very much the instrument of God much like a prosecutor is a instrument of justice.

You can convince yourself that money is bad or chasing wealth is pointless. The fact remains, nevertheless, that all throughout history, those without it have always been taken advantage of in one way or another.

For the world as we know it today to work, there has to be a competition. And that competition boils down to good vs. bad. Rich vs. poor. The rich make the rules that the poor abides by.

It is up to you to decide on which side you will be on.

Sometimes you have to be bad in order to have a chance to be good. But religion was introduced into the world to keep those of a lukewarm disposition on the side of those that get taken advantage of.

Religion plays an almighty role in keeping several hundred millions of people in poverty. These people believe sacrificing their lives in search of a better future in a fools errand. And there are several verses in the holy book that can be used to back this up. Likewise, there are several other verses that can be used to support the notion of wealth being health.

Expecting society to treat u a certain way is like expecting to have a conversation with a lion in a locked cage.
You prosperity evangelicals make me fukking sick. Jesus overturned the moneylenders in the temple, said “render unto Caesar” regarding the minted coins, the parable of the camel passing through the eye of the needle, repeatedly warned against those who use religion to become wealthy, and yet you still come through with mental gymnastics to make your corrupt and covetous money-grubbing somehow scripture.

The way a lot of people prioritize material possessions over social life is genuinely disturbing at times :francis:
I want to think that a life rich with art, music, food, and community is the one we should aspire to live. But, this society has conditioned us to derive pleasure from the attainment of material goods, replacing an appetite for culture with an obsession over the commercial.

Matthew 6:24
24No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Meh. Questions like that produces nothing of value.

But to answer that question, humans are nothing more than intelligent animals. We have the same predatory instincts and wild mannerisms.

That being the case, in the animal kingdom, there are preys and predators.

When you’re complaining about a job, a boss, a situation that u feel utterly powerless in, which category do u think you fall into?

The good news is, u don’t have to remain a prey.

i place envy under the umbrella of greed…

the 1st definition of envy is: “painful or resentful awareness of an advantage enjoyed by another joined with a desire to possess the same advantage

i interpret that as being unsatisfied with what you have and wanting more a la greed…:manny:

That's the idealized world. I should read more about Soviet Union communities, because what you are describing is the general gist of descriptions I have come across when associated with some of them, barring any Stalin atrocities. But my knowledge of the Soviet Union is primarily WW2 based, I never read deeply into any leftist social science or philosophy on the topic.

What you are suggesting is what I lean towards, I'm really about improving overall wellbeing for all sentient life, but I can agree with your sentiment. Problem is, and the reasoning for why I don't typically dive deep into leftist literature, is that I see it is an impossibility, at least with the current generation of humans, who are just so self-centered, rude, and a host of negative qualities that are diametrically opposed with sacrifice, which is what will be needed to maintain an environment like the one you promote. In order to cope with that realization, I push for what is practical, seems it's all you can do if you are being honest.

I mean look, your thread is enitelly good natured, and yet it was still met with hostility, jokes, derailment, and it will likely fade into the background versus the average drama thread.

Simply put, the average worker has been conditioned to support the system that binds them to it, all under the presumption that they may one day break free from that binding. But you already noted it in this thread, and I already know it, their likelihood of breaking free from that bind is slim to none.

It's a vicious cycle, and those with the eyes to see it are truly cursed.
