At the beginning of mean streets
Hmmm... I was thinking there had to some external factors contributing to it.

Interestingly, many doctors tell black women to get hysterectomies, and over diagnose. There isn't enough data on the causes of fibroids, for some they just shrink with time, and for others they grow bigger and bigger. Reminds me of Fannie Lou Hammer and the "Mississippi appendectomy" aka hysterectomy without her knowledge. Advancements in gynecology in the 1800s was made possible by experimenting on unwilling black women. "Marion Sims" was called the father of gynecology in America. He would use black female slaves and experiment on them without any anesthesia (because black people don't feel pain according to scientists). He would perform operations on them to discover how to save white women suffering from obstetric fistula.

Everywhere...You never there.
(because black people don't feel pain according to scientists)...

that whole "higher pain threshold level" of black folks apparently still rears its head today among non-black medical professionals projecting that on to black folks. really gotta try to vet your specialists and surgeons as much as possible...but even with vetting, you never really know what you're gonna get in terms of care, and what kinda biases they're bringing to the table...

This may be off topic, but I think its connected in a weird way

I notice when women are giving birth, they are in a bed, and not squating (back to the wall or someone holding you up while you are on the ground with knees toward your chest) with no one massaging the vagina. I was watching a special a while back that showed when some women had their vaginas massage during child birth, once the child came out, they said it gave them the strongest orgasms ever. It makes sense those same areas are what makes sex pleasurable, and squatting makes sure gravity helps blood flow to the area, as well as help the baby slide through with not too much effort, compared to being on a soft bed not squatting down.

The reason I bring that up is because if you are able to get the vagina to relax, and the nerves to give a feeling of euphoria, this may help resist the body from going into shock, and causing issues.

I'm thinking it has something to do with the clitoris, and helping release oxytocin, which cause contractions, along with other feel good hormones

Makes sense, and I'll admit, I had a sense about that too.

A childhood friend of mine is a doctor, and he is always telling me stories about how patients tell him one thing, but their bloodwork always shows something else. So, yeah, I'm very aware of them having to test anyway, just in case the patient is lying.

I think my beef with this lady was that she was that, as soon as she saw me, she was going to test my ass for an STD anyway, no matter what I said. I still do not know what it is she 'saw' when she examined me that just made her think it was an STD. It would have been one thing if she said, "Ok, this is a routine test we give all pregnant mommies to ensure your health and the baby's". That, I can get with. She was a dog with a bone, though, lol. Literally telling her everything that had happened in my pregnancy up until that very point didn't make any difference. I said, "I think I may have strained my bladder", and her mindset was still, you may have an STD. (Sigh) I get annoyed thinking about it now, lol.

My midwife was a West Indian woman who is well known throughout this city; if you are a lay midwife here, she probably trained you. I knew I was in good hands with her, and that was the only reason I didn't succumb to stress or fear after dealing with this doctor. My husband and I both spent the entire pregnancy building a relationship with her. I truly wish other women could have the same report with their own doctors during pregnancy. It would eliminate at least that aspect of the stress that comes along with having a baby.
So peeps this, I found out rather recently that only 8% of medical schools in the US actually have "cultural sensitivity" courses, which are supposed make doctors aware of their biases :mjpls:

So there's 126 med schools in the US.
.08 x 126 = 10

Only 10 medical schools teach cultural sensitivity. :smh:
