As we all know the received wisdom dictates that R&B died or is at least fatally :flabbynsick: but that isn't really the case.

The mainstream may have fallen out of love with R&B but the same goes for hip hop yet it doesn't suffer from the same stigma.

We looked to mixtapes and the deeply established cultural cannon to give us an indication of who was hot and on the come up and as a result despite being less present in the charts it's still perceived to be going strong.

R&B left the charts but people continued to look for it there, not stopping to think what other avenues the music might be filtering through.

So far this year we've had...

Mario has been quietly consistent over the years and of all the singers that emerged during the mid 00's he has one of the better voices but he hasn't really been able to capitalise on it and release anything truly great.

Chapter 5 is great and better then PPP

Want to point out your problem with it?

Honestly that's not very hard. Of course the singles on PPP are far superior and it has a few cuts but on the whole it was an uninspiring retread. C5 switches things up a little and was more consistent sound wise but the club tracks do him no favours. I feel like he peaked with Ready.

Sammie was the victim of late prospect syndrome. Great talent, notable buzz, but packaged to be the next big thing at a time when things were changing. Insomnia was a step in the right direction.
