while Kendirck wasn't the first rapper to dive into this kind of content, i must admit it's been a while since an album combined this sort of content with an incredibly consistent sound that was also HIGH QUALITY.


that's why this is album of the year. How many albums have been in hip hop with excellent production AND pro-black content throughout? Public Enemy's first couple of joints, Train of Thought, R.A.P Music, Black Star, Black on Both Sides. Those are the only ones i can think of.

That's fair. Kendrick's an observer. His subject matter is more about the world around him than himself. That's why you'll struggle to find personal songs in his catalog.

But there's nothing wrong with that, and it doesn't make him untrue to himself. He's just a good guy in a crazy world, plenty of people relate to that.
