No one has that juice in Hollywood no more. It’s not the movie star it’s the actual movie that people are interested in. He could make 10 more Moana and sell like crazy but Oscar bait doesn’t move the needle. It’s targeted towards a niche audience.

He needs to stick to tv if he wants to be an actor.
Well let's get Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson back together..

Put Chris Tucker with the Rock....

Hell Rock and Austin doing a comedy movie will DEFINITELY do big business.

No idea who Mark Kerr is, nor does the average person that doesn't follow MMA. Young Rock aside, would have been better off making a biopic about Dwayne Johnson.

its funny as hell how he can't help himself without saying some bullshyt when he flops.

first off this is your Oscar bait movie, it doesn't hinge on having great box office results. just relax and go on your money spinning ass kissing tour come award season. second, you're never going to compete with Leo in general but Lucky Leo and PTA finally teaming up.

him and Benny Safdie going to be sick as hell when Timmy and Josh Safdie trounce them with Marty Supreme
His ego won’t allow it. And it’s a little transparent that he wants to do an Oscar bait movie after eating shyt for doing nothing but blockbusters and b level movies. He’s always looking for approval.

And apparently the movie wasn’t anything special at all.

The movie was a 7/10. Strong acting from Rock and Emily, an amazing score for the film, and phenomenal cinematography. But, the writers screwed up, and I feel like it was because of how Mark Kerr wanted his story presented.

The movie really centered on his relationship and how it distracted his MMA career, and how he fell into drug addiction. But, I feel like he truly loved his ex-wife so much that he held back what could've been presented. At the end of the movie, it is literally stated that he and his wife were married for six years and have a child... Basically implying divorce without saying. They also mention how he fought until 2009. However, they showed us his his career up until 2003, leaving me like wtf happened for 6 years.

The movie ends with current day Mark shopping in a grocery store, and how he is a pioneer of MMA, but none of the film makes you feel that way

Rock basically said on IG fukk the box office, check out my acting skills :russ:. A24 basically spends millions just to make Oscar bait films, and if they get Oscar nom for this movie then it's money well spent.

I can tell from this thread the fat boys who have no clue was A24 is about :mjlol:

Basically this.

It's funny tho that ticket sells doesn't matter in the storytelling world. When only 8/9 months earlier the Rock was summoned by Endeavour/TKO/Ari Emanuel for Elimination Chamber because of low ticket sales.

The Rock & Emily's acting are getting high praise which is what Rock wanted, and him saying you can't control the box office is admitting that it's numbers were low.

I heard of him but never saw any of his fights, and I didn't realize how trash he actually was until I looked him up. This nikka was a glorified punching bag for the most of his career. :russ:He started out 12-0 in a 2 year span, then he lost like 13 of his last 15 fights. That nikka was absolute garbage once he got off them roids.
