I actually watched this same documentary (and many others) for the exact same reason, a while ago. To see how this could be applied to African countries and the short answer is it can't. The big difference between Korea and the other asian tigers and Africa is that even when they were "poor" they were still well educated. Yes many of them were illiterate but they still had a lot of trade skills and the knowledge base was already there. The biggest detriment to Africa's growth is the lack of skilled labor/education. If you want to apply anything in this video to Africa that's what you'll have to fix first.
Breh, that is a GROSS oversimplification of complex multifaceted issues, not to mention many African countries are wildly different. Zimbabweans were VERY well educated post independence, look how that worked out. There are tons of skilled Africans who can't do anything meaningful with their skills back home.
The biggest (but obviously not only) problem is that Africa has shytty leaders (not even a generalization really). If you read up on the history of Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe you'll be so disgusted with the gratuitous mismanagement, incompetence and greed that went on for years. So much self immolation, shortsightedness, inhumanity and wasted potential.
