Been on a Verzus kick lately and afterward I usually deep dive the featured artists' catalog. And man, I gotta say I'm equally impressed and unimpressed with Swizz Beatz' work :jbhmm:. I'm not trying to discredit this brother's accomplishments and definitely respect the grind. It's especially impressive he's been able to maintain this level of celebrity and relevance for damn near 30 years. But his overall catalog is just not that good and at times laughably bad (I'll list examples if necessary). And then when you start comparing him to his contemporaries? Shiiiiet. Like who even thought it was appropriate to pit him against Timbaland :childplease:? Not even in the same conversation.

shyt like "Bring 'em out", "New York Sht", "Ruff Ryders Anthem" always gonna get a head nod from me. I know the man has heat, not disputing that. It's just crazy he ascended these type of heights with such mediocre beats. If anything the finesse is inspiring lmao. Hustle and the right connections go a long fukking way, clearly.:salute:

In the lexicon of beat makers, Swizz is definitely ass to me. He’s a perfect example of right time right place as far as production goes. But he’s also a driven black man, who uses the access and opportunity afforded him. So, god bless him.
is he a piano guy? all his sh!t is simple but drop bottom and ruff ryders are classics

Not true lol
You don't think being married to one of the best selling and most celebrated artists of the 21st century elevated his profile? :dahell:Stop it.

He's related to the founders of Ruff Ryders. He didn't get jerked for his early production work, and HIS signature sound took off and ruled the airwaves for a minute. He cashed all the way out.
Yea, you're right :ohhh:. I just had to go and look this shyt up because I thought you were bullshytting. And damn, his uncles. I never knew this.

The I in Team
I remember when he came out he was dissed heavily for making “Casio” beats. He has made some classics, no doubt, but I definitely get what you saying.

In a weird way the same could be said for Nore. He made some dope songs, has a classic album with cnn but by and large a mediocre rapper. Still he managed to reinvent himself and is enjoying great success.
