nikka the shyt is finna happen. i said 2018 in the OP. its atop the billboard you can turn on pop radio stations and hear white people over trap beats.
the same thing happened with disco. it bled to other genres and had people blowing up disco records at a baseball field and had people having disco bonfires.

Moving on to my comment about the topic:
Trap is way more fun to dance to. I see it basically as Disco. I wouldn't listen to it on a 10 hour drive. For that I would employ something where the words mattered and that I wouldn't care about the danceability.
So it's good for what it's for.
That what makes it so disgusting. The people who make songs who only do it for popularity and quick money. Not even for enjoyment.

I've spoken about this before, it wack played out but isn't going anywhere for now.
It's very played out, but it's cheap easy and easily digestible. Terrible rappers can pull it off, and have a chance of a hit. What is even more played out is autotune, but again it prevails because it's easy to pull off and cheap. 'Do I Get a trash rapper to autotune it for free, or get a real singer?' - autotune it is.
The main issue is trap has become popular at the time when we are seeing a sea change in people's perception of what art/music/culture should be. Things like originality, quality over quantity, and 'high brow' content are not valued anymore, seen as archaic, and in fact railed against.
In a form of rebellion of the status quo, we have artists who are unoriginal (using other rappers names), who put out obscene amounts of low quality tapes, generic production, delivered in a style of not caring about rhyming, out of tune, missing the beat etc on purpose - this is in fact their brand and marketing . Today you get more kudos being successful making music and 'not caring' than music you worked hard to perfect.
Trap at it's bpm range and drum patterns is versatile, and a perfect platform for this kind of expression. You can rap/sing real lazy in normal time, or spit trash in double time.
True, however, they going to be on the wrong side of history soon. Like Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer.
