Asians also see education also as a way to integrate into US society, besides getting a job with good salary. That extends beyond one or two generations, since their numbers are still small population-wise.
African-Americans don't have the same view, since we've been here for centuries anyway... We're not immigrants trying to fit in. If anything, education is a way to beat the low expectations Amerikkka has for us (then getting a good job/money).
Asians sure found a nice niche: They're the best educated group in the US by far and have the highest median incomes (higher than whites).
The funny part is that they voted for Obama at a higher rate than latinos in 2012 (yet, republicans keep saying that minorities vote democratic because of "handouts")
