Please. It's inconceivable that you will ever go over someone's head.
OK, I knew someone would not get what I posted, and get emotional about it, so they won't get it.

Here's a start:
The Narcissistic Injury and Psychopathology of Migration: The Case of a Nicaraguan Man - Springer
The Narcissistic Injury and Psychopathology of Migration: The Case of a Nicaraguan Man
"Cultural and ethnic issues commonly surface as important therapeutic themes among many minority patients. Identity formation, self-concept, perception, and the effects of migration on the aetiology of psychiatric symptomatology are reviewed. Trauma resulting from migration, stress, and prolonged affect-laden situations in the precipitation and onset of physical disease and illness is discussed. A clinical presentation of a 68-year-old Nicaraguan man is presented to highlight the aforementioned issues, i.e., traumatization, the development of psychopathology, and the onset of physical illness as a result of forced migration."

Identity, Belonging and Migration
Identity, Belonging and Migration

Notice how it explains that European migrants developed narcissism as a way to feel better about themselves from the things they did. That is what i was explaining in my post that you couldn't understand.

Koreans, japanese, and Chinese have very successful nations. They don't come from poor countries.

My family is in Taiwan right now for new year. my son got sick and he got treated for free. It would have cost 70-100 dollars in the USA. Taiwan is also much more safe than the united states, so I don't need to worry about my kids as much as a I do here.

I took my wife to hoods that I grew up in, and she has never seen poverty to the level of the American ghetto before.

So, I don't think Asians, at least the ones that dominate the silicon valley, come from fukked up poor countries.

Always
I'm Black and my parents didn't play that shyt either. And I'm not from a wealthy background. I know other Black people like this as well. Black people don't get the attention for academic success OR they get viciously targeted by hateful and jealous attacks... I have shared some of my info here and I'm called a liar.... NO ONE HERE BELIEVES A BLACK WOMAN CAN BE INTELLIGENT!!! :mindblown:
I knew in preschool without my mom telling me I was expected to get good grades and graduate college. I remember pretending to be smart as a child. I'd read my MOM'S BOOK and pretend I understood them.

I always saw my mom studying in my early years. My family watched jeopardy and wheel of fortune together every night for a few years. I grew up in Richmond California.

My mom's family is from Oklahoma. All they talk is about education. That's why I was reading Noam Chomsky, Al Franken, Cornell West, Shakespeare, and writing stories in elementary school.

I didn't value the environment I grew up in until recently, I'm 26. I don't have a college degree, but I've done 1.5 of university. When I dropped out I was able to start a business because my family owned businesses and properties.

So business ownership was natural to me. As a child my mom would take me all over America to help her manage our family's properties. I realize now my family gave me an informal college education.

Through their willingness to foster my abilities I see the world as mine to mold and conquer. Black culture is all about excellence. I was adopted too! Genetics isn't an excuse. Structure and love is everything ya'll. Recently the black family model has become misrepresented or blown a part.

What can we do? Everything! I talk to any brown or black person younger than me about how to get where I am. I tell all my secrets to whoever looks like me. I listen to anyone older than me who's willing to lace me.

Information and the willingness to share and apply knowledge are the most important resources IMO.

I remember the thought I had at like 7 or 8. It was this: I don't need anyone's permission to learn something. I know now it's because my my mom set the example by always reading and taking me to work with her.

Not poor in economics, but poor in dealing with different types of people with different ways of thinking. Again, most people are like this, which is why they develop different forms of narcissism. In a lot of those countries, freedom of thought, and expressing it, is not allowed without repercussions.

I feel the reason why you see the ghettos here, and not as much there, is because it's more of a group thinking with the whole country, whereas here, a city can have different ways of thinking. Unfortunately, the founders of this country were those narcissist who migrated from their homeland. That means extreme forms of group thinking are embedded in this society, and that means more competiton, and more cheating. Hence extreme ghettos, and rich areas, will be the norm.

Luckily, the new generation of children who grew up here, and have a more stable mental composition, can see how dumb that way of over competition is not needed to still live a peaceful life, at least in this country. We can get along, without having to be alike. It's a slow change, but it's happening:blessed:

I wasn't talking about you. And I don't know why you and @Abogado think I was.

I'm a Black woman and I've been attacked here on the Coli for being intelligent...
The Coli is a site full of morons, many of the guys here expressed their sentiments that they would prefer a woman who has not been educated past high school, over a woman with a solid education, because it helps rub their ego.

Why worry about someones else's success? Worry about your own self and kids. That's what immigrants do.
no thats not what they do. immigrants like anyone else will survey the landscape and find out "what are people doing to get to point B, C and Z from point A. what can I do to duplicate those efforts? is it more feasible for me to try to get to B, C or Z?" only an idiot wouldnt look to other successful models and try to figure out how he/she fits in that paradigm.

It's Nigerians. With that said, when I was a kid my parents used to ask me why I failed when I got a B+.

I got an A- on an exam and had the highest grade in the class, and they were like, don't compare yourself to anyone else

I got an A and some other kids got A+s, and they're like so you're telling me they're smarter than you? :beli:

this right here breh :dead:

My mom would always say why did that kid do better than you? does he have 2 heads? :heh:

All true :francis:

Still, African Americans would benefit hugely from helping each other and prioritizing education. Though I realize it's not that easy or straightforward.

What Asians did/do won't work for us unless we have our own institutions. Black people will go and get an education only to face severe discrimination in the job market. It's why black people with degrees have the same employability as white felons.

Cac employers want Asians at their jobs. They absolutely do not want any black people.

Depends what you call success. I don't consider most of them successful if you are just speaking on money, and status of career. A lot of them are lacking in "spirituality", they are very narcissistic. To me they become the very people they hate. It's not just them, its the people who are from here who also give in to the ways of the world.

The ones who keep their good ways, and get the money, and status, are the ones I consider successful. Unfortunately, they are rare, because in all of the world these type of people are rare.

If the end goal is to live a comfortable, financially stable life, why not learn some of their tricks instead of hating on them.

True, but there are no tricks, unless you're cheating.

All it is, is to decide what you want, and do it. Most of them want to get what they want through education, then getting a good job, and everything else just comes along. So what do they do, they just make sure the kids study all day, and have a career choice that will get them money. It's nothing more to it. For some that path isn't what they want, and in some cases in wont be so easy. This is a competitive society, and when you have competition, you have cheating.

There are a million ways to get to the same outcome, it's about choosing what works with the cards you are dealt. You will never get somewhere following others, unless you are willing to accept the good, and bad, that comes with doing that. I wouldn't raise my children like that because to me life is deeper then living like that. Especially in this country. All you need is a creative idea, and willing to stick it through, to get big money in this country. There is no one way to make it, that's why I love this place:jawalrus:
