:what:

if they don't adopt it they won't be selling used X1 games plain and simple...something is better then nothing...

The point is that there is no benefit for the consumer to buy used games.

think about it...M$ has already said that they would charge the retail price (maybe - $10 of retail) on used copies. This means that you go buy a used games at gamestop, who will most likely charge $20-$30 just for them to profit of the sales of used games. The consumer has to pay this cost + the cost to play the game on console. So why would someone go and buy a used game.

This strategy effectively kills the used market. No consumer is dumb enough to make two different transactions, when they could just make one by buying a new copy of the game.

so ?? I'm sure they were complaining about the little bit of money you receive for the trade in :thumbsdown:but how many people say they don't want the option of trading games ??? There are other outlets and you can't even lend games or bring them to other people's houses without using your info
Consumers will still have the ability to trade games and lend them to friends. The exact details haven't been discussed yet, but they said they are shooting for a user-friendly system. Save your outrage until the full plans are released. And keep in mind Sony is coming up with some type of "system" as well.

You sound like a Microsoft shill . Who's complaining about innovation ?? They can implement those features and allow you to share games with friends . It's your fukking game I spend 70 dollars I can damn sure decide if I want to lend it to my little brother or cousin who have a ps4 or Xbox . I hope game publishers will do the right thing and make sure their games have enough content to warrant me keeping it forever
I think they are trying to find a balance that will keep everyone happy. We'll see

I get what your saying but them trying this shyt will hurt their sales :whoo: and will open up a bunch of lawsuits since Eulas are kind of shady . Any time you have to agree to a contract and its take it or leave it and the terms come up after the item is already purchased it leaves alot of grey . You think ms wants a bunch of lawsuits and negative press ?

i'm eager to see someone challenge this in court. we had legal protection to be able to resell our games but i still feel like they'll get away with this for the sole reason that the games on Xbox One are all digital and the disc is just used to install them instead of play them.

its a smart move on Microsoft's part even if it is anti-consumer. there are some marketplaces that only exist because the publishers and console makers can't profit off them. used games is one of them IMO.

This sums up Microsoft's attitude

Steam is pretty much equivalent to this with a few minor differences. 30 days offline. Games are cheaper.

But unlike the XBOX One the PC does offer alternatives to STEAM and physical disks are still available for a lot of games.
games are significantly cheaper

and look better
and have mods :umad::win:

you actually believe Microsoft is going to assist you in violating the EULA of their games and all publisher's games?

lending games is copyright infringement. if your friend wants to play the game they can either rent or buy from an authorized retailer or buy secondhand. you giving them a game and allowing them to play it with no compensation to anyone is copyright infringement. its no different than internet piracy sans the fact that you give them an authorized copy they didn't pay for instead of an unauthorized copy.

I'm just going by what they said. They said they are looking into "options" for that. There are already options for sharing games on PSN, I'm assuming a similar system will be put in place for X1

it's more about the publishers and what they want. consumers love to talk shyt and make boycott threats, but at the end of the day most bend over and pay $20 for 3 new maps

Japanese people would kill Sony so they really cant afford too, it's too big of their base to alienate them , and the publishers will go where the people go . See how Microsoft flipped the script on Sony once the 360 proved its viability everything started becoming multiplat . It's my opinion but parents won't be rushing out to buy these systems like previous ones since there are so many other ways to play games . The early adopters will be people in their 20s like me with disposable income and a reasonably well paying job which is why wii u flopped

the retailers leaked their "options." the info is out in the wild Microsoft just isn't telling it to us the average consumer because its unpleasant and a PR disaster to have it out there now growing and festering. they're being intentionally vague on many of the details of this console because as a company they wanna sell you a box and control everything you do on it using the internet to have it phone home and enable / disable what they see fit.

i'll buy their console and the only games i'll buy for it are the ones that i can't get anywhere else. keep defending them if you want but many gamers were lulled into a false sense of security and forgot they were dealing with Microsoft an underhanded snake of a company that strives to be a monopoly and control all their products to an anti-consumer extent. i always expected them to show their fangs eventually and now they have.

Gamestop shouldnt sell used Xbox1 Games altogether.. Just New... :manny:

There simply isnt enough financial incentive if the the sales structure heavily favors Microsoft for Used Xbox 1 Games

They should probably ban it all together, focus on PS3 and Wii-U..

Then Watch as the PS4 Sale Sore forcing Microsoft to change their sales strategy altogether :steviej:

Idk why all you arm chair revolutionist are upset , Sony's about to do the exact same thing. Used games of the past are no longer...console makers/ publishers want to profit. A person who buys nothing but used games is considered a total loss to Sony and Ms who makes nothing on consoles sold.

And how do you think EA, Activision, Ubisoft, etc...will feel about not receiving any money from all those used PS4 games?

Have not defended anyone. And the leak from retailers doesn't address borrowing games from friends which is what I was referring to.

As for your rant against Microsoft. All companies are looking to make a profit. The most closed architecture is sometimes the most popular (iphone) if they can find a way to convince consumers that this new norm is to their benefit they will be alright. If they can't console gaming will die.

You're assuming that Used XBOX1 Games Will Sell Regardless..

If PS4 Manages to Keep the structure of Used Games sales relatively the same as it is now, that will be a huge incentive for Gamers to Purchase a ps4 over and Xbox 1.. Im certain anything sony loses in "used" Games Profits, they will make up in the Amount of Systems and New Games they end up outselling the Xbox by... That should satisfy any Gaming company producing games for the PS4
