My grandfather fought in WW2. I obviously didn’t know him as a young man but as an old man he was a quiet reserved person that just paid the bills and stayed in the den. He never once talked about the war. He had the temperament of someone who saw fukked up shyt. His brother my great uncle used to have a near breakdown when planes flew across the house for the first few years after coming back. My dad fought in the Gulf War and served 20 years. He talks about death a lot. He once called my mom from over there screaming saying he was scared wasn’t coming back. I know he saw shyt. He won’t talk either. My dad’s friend from work had a breakdown a few years ago after seeing a box with wires hanging out of it. When he was fighting over there, they were driving through some place in multiple cars and they got attacked. His best friend was in the car ahead and the car got blown to bits. He saw his friends limbs and body parts go everywhere and after the fighting was over he was shellshocked and delirious and he saw his boy all over the place and he put all of the body parts into a box and carried it back  Seeing that box at work triggered him and he was crying in the bathroom for like 45 minutes. My dad had to talk him down. My dad sympathizes with him because he fought too but said no one at work likes being around him when he doesn’t take his meds

PTSD was less back in the days because they didn’t give out benefits. They had people who were built for war signing up. Now because sign up for “money for college” or a “way out”

Come on now OP its the internet when don't you get responses like this.

Not defending everything the army does. But dude could have talked about how he loves god, or helping people and he still would have gotten a bunch of negative comments.
This thread has nothing to do with that video nor do the responses in the comments. People are answering that question that the army asked at the bottom. The Twitter link just used both of those posts that’s why you see the video too in the OP

The military do get rough at times no lie...if u close to the edge they will push you over the edge. It’s just a lot of little stuff that gets to u fr.

But shidd the military did more good than harm to me but for a small percentage tho it was the opposite. I needed the military for the transition from the hood to the real world. The military had enough stability that let me iron out a lot of bad traits I picked up growing up in a negative ass environment that alot of us grew up in.

But you are in the military fighting wars so some people are going to sacrifice more than others. So horror stories in the military are to be expected, it’s sad but true. I just tried to choose a career that didn’t expose me to be being killed but at the end of the day “anybody can get it” no matter what job you had.
