what i was gettin' at was the fact that hip hop has this very short attention span with it's artists and the artists' music

a muthafukka could've been the best thing since slice bread, a legend and all that (like lil kim) but the minute someone new comes along it's like to the bushes that original muthafukka goes. that's what makes hip hop so fickled with it's level of respect and attention span

This is true, but some of that falls on Kim.

You can't really be mad at somebody filling your void when you didn't give a shyt about fillin' it. She did time and all that, but even after she got out, she wasn't all that quick to jump back out there. She fell way back when she coulda been still out there comin' with music... only when Nicki came out and started blowin' up did Kim pop back up talkin' bout pay homage. This is like 5 years after her last album. Hip-hop can be fickle, but it also won't wait around for an artist to decide they feel like makin' new music.
