I don't know why people (not necessarily here, but in many places) are shocked that countries full of immigrants are doing so well. When you can not only produce your own talent, but take talent away from other countries, you excel. That's why the U.S. being so inept at the game is so crazy. You could probably field a team of just first-generation Americans that are the children of immigrants from this country and make a run at the World Cup if the system here wasn't so fukked up with things like warring youth soccer organizations and a prohibitive cost to playing organized league soccer (sorry, I'm talking about the U.S., so I'm using the "s" word).

But I digress. As someone born in the U.S., it's crazy how much of its athletic success is basically down to the institution of antebellum slavery. There are so many knock-on benefits to colonizing another place well into the future, even when we're in a post-colonial situation.

EDIT: Someone posted a picture of what the Moroccan and (I think) Democratic Republic of the Congo teams would look like without colonization, and both of those teams would be World Cup favorites easily. I need to find that picture; I couldn't quickly see it after a Google Image Search, but it really drove the point home.

What countries like France, England and Belgium have over the US is development of talent, particularly in the technical department. The US has the talent pool but they need to change how they develop talent. The NCAA route is an absolute joke.

:whoa::whoa::whoa: slow down there son.

neymar has more commercial value and mbappe has a higher ceiling than hazard. So lets just hope real see and think the same thing. :sadcam:

can't see my boy go. :sadcam::sadcam:

we might return to them autoglass days. :sadcam::sadcam:

become assnal and sell our best players. :sadcam::sadcam:

pedro/willian on the wings :sadcam::sadcam:

@SCORCH @Premeditated @Roid Jones @Trill Evans @Diddly Drogba @dem bath salts :sadcam::sadcam::sadcam:
Nikkas wanna auction off Hazard now?:gucci:

Gotta get the manager situation sorted out asap. Sell Willian to Barca and get a proper right winger. Also need new partners for Kanté.

Club been sleeping. It's July 10th and there still isn't clarity about the manager. Might be a rough season:hhh:

People were throwing Emenalo under the bus:mjpls: but shyt has gotten worse and worse since he left the club.

You mean the Zola, Wisey, JFH, Desailly, CFC days? :banderas:

I'll be honest and say I don't think Hazard is going to stay at Chelsea. He might angle for a move. I don't think Courtois will stay either. They've both been linked to Real Madrid over the years. The injection of cash and huge vacancy that Ronaldo just created in their team would make it a viable move for them. My problem with Hazard though is while he is professional in his relationship with Chelsea, he doesn't give his all on the pitch anymore.

Might as well cash in on them and restructure the team with some young prodigies. :manny:

The team as it is currently structured isn't competing with Man City and possibly the other top tier teams. Crazy to think what could have been with Hazard, KDB, Salah and Lukaku still at the club. Would arguably be the best attack in all of football.

my gut is saying the same thing...but there is a few weeks left in the transfer window. I'm hearing jorginho, rugani and sarri are gonna be announced very soon. Golovin too. But our problems don't lie in mid or defense. We need wingers....bailey/martial/dembele/pulasic. So i don't know wtf is goin on. Plus conte is doin training sessions rn and we off to australia is less than 2 weeks. :mindblown:

if you think about it, hazard/costa/fabreas were our last marquee signings...and that was like 4-5 years ago....Sine then we've bought nothing but average players (apart from kante). :heh:

abramovich banned from the uk too. :heh:

what the fukk is goin on with our club mayn? seems like year after year shyt seems to be gettin worst. :heh:

A talented yet fragile Deli Alli and Jordan-fukking-Henderson? Literally I cannot think of a more milquetoast footballer than Jordan Henderson...he might as well be named "Default Player".

:russ: you wild for this.

I said it earlier in the thread, this is the best English team I've probably ever seen. They are better than the so called "golden generation" (this term btw :hhh:)
of Rooney, Lampard, Gerrard, Scholes, Beckham, Ferdinand, A. Cole, J. Cole, Terry, G. Neville etc. The keyword is "team". They have good team chemistry and they play without pressure, unlike the aforementioned players that would visibly be quaking in their boots as they sang their national anthem. }

Football isn't played on paper. Croatia have just gone through two penalty shootouts against teams they should have had relatively comfortable victories against. They are lucky England isn't up against Russia.

That said, I like them against England if they have recovered from their previous game, which had a lot of their players fatigued. If they come into the game with heavy legs, then Sterling, Dele Alli, and Lingard are going to be running circles around them.

IMMIGRANT TETHERS
Courtois: "We lost against a team that was not better than us. We lost against a team that didn't play. Sure they defended well with 11 players at the back, it's normal!"

Listen I know you’re English and optimistic and shyte but what exactly is impressive about this England team? They’ve shown me absolutely nothing so far.

All they’ve done is barely progress vs a bang average colombia side missing their best player and fukking Sweden who where also missing on of their top defenders.

So don’t get your hopes up too much because this team will get exposed horribly when they have to play a competent team.

I'm the furthest thing from English. I actually support whoever is playing against England usually so trust me when I say I'm being objective on this.

If you look at the style of play, it's a big improvement from previous England teams. They actually play a more continental style of football. Good passing, good movement and dangerous from set-pieces. They also play from the back unlike previous teams that would hoof the ball to Rooney like a Bolton Wanderers defender.

As good as Croatia is, they have literally skated by the last two games on penalty shoot-outs. This game is going probably going to be won by a single goal.

italy did the same in 06' apart from beating germany in ET. France had to beat brazil, portugal and spain to get to the final. Same thing this time. Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Belgium.

but this has all the hallmarks of 06'. :francis:
