Best performing team as far as advancing in tournaments I’d say. They’re far better than 2014 and 2016 England teams of course but they aren’t a historically good England team, they’ve not been really tested yet.


2002-2006 England where better imo.

They got off to a slow start but legitimately battered a half decent Denmark team and just ran into the eventual world champions.

And in 2006 if Rooney doesn’t do what he does they probably beat Portugal and get the the semi final against France.

The 1986 squad where potential World Cup winners as well, lineker was incredible and they where junst unlucky to run into maradona playing the game of his life.

It’s like how the 2003 Celtic team who won zero trophies is objectively better than the current double treble team. The old squad played a much higher level of competition.
