I wonder how the reboot would work today. I don't mind being wrong but I feel it will work best pre smart phone era

It could work quite well...or it could be a dud exactly like Jordan Peele's Twilight Zone. (or Black Mirror seasons 4-6, though I liked this most recent season a lot)

With Coogler at the helm, I'd expect a multi-racial cast, possibly some LGBT members for spice...

But I'm not sure how you flip the basic concept of the show. - Mostly a Monster of the Week + Overarching Alien Conspiracy every couple of episodes.

In today's environment, the Network might do the series dirty, by trying to make it one overarching story, like how they played Sister Sonequa's Star Trek. On top of that, 6-10 episodes max, spaced out by multliple years....

So 1) vision for the series, 2) strength of the writing + Coogler's directing talents.

It's 1 & 2 that I'm most worried about.

Coogler is one of the best directors (despite what some of the Coli thinks)

I'd be concerned because I dont think he'd direct much of the show. Which would be a concern on who he hires.

It is concerning that his Ironheart series he produced seems DOA.

Now glass half full this isnt like he's taking over The Sopranos or The Wire. Shows where they maintained its status. Similar to Rocky the last few chapters were not considered great (although Balboa was decent).

X-Files seems very much of its time though. Like now days Mulder would be doing podcasts with Joe Rogan and shyt.
