There’s currently 6 players averaging over 30 ppg. What does it even mean at this point?

I just see pages of people who werent born commenting on shyt decades past their brain capacity

the finals video is peaking as the worst part of an already terrible thread too
take the first 2 minutes of the 1990 finals and point out slow motion chances players had :russ:

I just really wish people who werent born would not comment on shyt they werent around for
same shyt with music, etc. nikkas still smoke crack but you werent around for the 80s and 90s when crack actually hit and the entire culture changed

you cant compare the shyt unless you were actually there. Imagine us talking about cars to some nikkas who just saw Model T and were on horseback and train 3 year prior. You cant sit and just "try to figure the shyt out" nikkas werent hunting or chasing 3's in the 90s ... you would be benched if you pulled up for 3 and broke the plays... you might get 1 shot, if you pull up a 2nd time, you were sitting and the coach was throwing shyt across the hardwood.

Kids cant even comprehend that the NBA was not even respected or loved until right before those 1990s games, it was niche and in smaller circles... it wasnt internationally huge as today. Only real heads who loved basketball were on it for the love. Before MJ nikkas were making peanuts because the game wasnt marketable or desirable to most of America or the world. The only thing that will show children "history" is when they become it...time passes every decade and its always looked back by people who didnt live it as "overrated"

if shyt was set to evolve quicker, it would have. Like the one dude posted, the game and rules only change to create a new style out of something that already was. Its like Tony Hawk doing the 900 on a skateboard. He isnt gonna do the 900 unless someone does the 180... the 360 later, the 540 a decade later, the 720 two decades later. nikkas arent just jumping on skateboards and doing 720s. Like without Dr J, there is no Dominique, then there is no Kemp, then there is no Blake Griffin, then we have no Anthony Edwards. That one dude in the start changed everything with how he created the norm. You cant compare it to someone who is just doing what he started without thinking. I'm not Thomas Edison because I own 20 light switches

:mjlol: These threads are always dumpster fire. It's always the same nikkas going back and forth too. How do yall not get bored of this shyt?

WTF are you talking about? This is the 2nd comment in a row where you don't appear able to follow the conversation one bit.

No one is talking about talent level. We're talking about SOFTNESS. You claimed that modern players were too weak to survive in that "physical" era and I'm showing you 150lb Michael Adams doing whatever he wanted. You claimed modern players were too soft to play back then and I'm showing you soft-ass Joe Barry Carroll getting drafted #1 and putting up 20+ ppg in four straight seasons without even giving a shyt.

Let me point that out again. Joe Barely Cares put up 24 and 9 with 2 blocks a game in the "toughest" physical era, despite being soft as downy tissues.

But your comeback is Anthony Bennett who barely even scored 24 points in his entire career. :mjlol: :mjlol: :mjlol:

I've been watching NBA since 1987, dumbass. I watched Bird and Magic go, I remember when MJ was considered a big stat guy who couldn't win, I watched the Bad Boy Pistons in real time, I watched EVERY televised Blazers game from that Drexler-Porter-Kersey-Buck-Duckworth core. (Duckworth, another soft-ass player who weighed damn near 300 lbs but avoided the rim at all times. Still made all-star anyway).

Good try though.

This is a lie
its true, just because we love it doesnt make it bigger
you can name international players who loved the game etc and examples

but that doesnt change the bigger picture and progression
there's more people in China trying to play basketball right now
than you can add countries in 1980s and before

just reach alone shyt on anything... its like that with all aspects of life
more people watch wrestling now (or in the last decade).. that doesnt mean its better
but even with circuits in other countries for decades and die hard people... its not on the same popularity level as today

the TV deals alone... or fukking youtube ... or the internet being in more places worldwide etc all show you the obvious
nikkas in China or Brazil aint talking about Moses Malone or Eddie Jones... people have been tapped in hardbody since this new era took over
there's people on youtube daily seeing Michael Jordan play for the first time. That's not even a possibility in any era before

we can name NBA shyt all day because we are actual fans here
you could see it back in the day too... but its not even close to the same level as today
I can even DM a person from Latvia about Kristaps and have a convo today
in the 70s and 80s I wouldnt even know a person from Latvia

The NBA wasn’t a niche league until the 1990s. That’s a lie.
show me a contract or deal that shows anything before 1990 resulting in international consistent marketing and revenue
I have more money right now than Magic Johnson made in 1989-1990

nikkas on youtube who review soup make more money and have better views than NBA in 70s and 80s
there's no similar stream of income because there's not deals as big internationally for TV or any structure of outreach back then... its not even comparable
imagine comparing TV before cable to Youtube :russ: ... its 1985, tell me how you are going to watch and scout French players as a fan with a subway job and a 30 inch sanyo television with the VHS attached to the bottom... 99% of the world aint gonna be able to tell you one player if they arent in the newspaper or following that shyt with diehard fandom. Name 3 players from the Kenyan National Team since 1970. I can, in 2020s look up and follow/stream and any player from their team and review their history overnight... then subscribe to their 1080p telecast within 24 hours of googling it. Become a fan, buy a jersey and stan the players... providing more income to their whole team. I can literally paypal or cashapp them money to support the league... 0% of that is possible before like 1996-1997 through AOL. Like previous post, unless you are a diehard basketball fan... 99% of the population aint gonna know shyt outside of huge promotion basketball. nikkas still aint selling out arenas and most people cant name reserves on teams even when they follow a team.

This is gobbity goop

You said the NBA was a niche league before the 1990s. That’s an untrue statement. You have nothing to refute that.

Game 7 of the 1988 NBA finals had the second highest rating in NBA TV history. That’s not niche.

Oh no, not the commissioner of the NBA saying EXACTLY what we've been saying the whole thread. :russ:

That they made the game less physical on purpose to make it easier to score.

"bu-bu-bu everybody's just better now":mjcry:

You clearly want 90s/00s basketball back.

Some of us don't. We are happy with the product looking like the 60s 70s 80s.

Gen Z right:respect:?

Well that is the nbas primary demographic they want to reach. The era that loves that anybody can produce a t.v show on their phone. The group that loves anybody can make music, blow up without having to go through the gauntlet. Of course they would love a league that looks like anybody can be a walking bucket.
