Heres what I don't understand...why does Corbyn get to make his own government? Does the queen decide?

Cause last time didn't the largest party decide to make the coalition?

The largest minority party makes a shadow cabinet. It has no real governmental role but it allows the opposition to provide alternatives to the party in government.

If the Tories fail to form an alliance while being the largest party, THEN Corbyn could attempt to strike a deal with the Scottish National party, the Liberal Democrats, the nationalist parties from Northern Ireland and the Greens. But this is an unlikely scenario.

The opposition party also has a shadow cabinet to propose their alternatives to the existing govt

so the cons could still have a conservative PM if they all agree on one correct? are there any rumors of someone replacing her? I'm trying to make sense of all the celebrating I'm seeing on twitter from liberals

The Tories could have a leadership contest to oust May. And if she loses, then she's out. She might be pressured to resign.

People are celebrating because an actual left wing platform delivered big results for Labour and youth turnout was amazingly high.

The Tories have no mandate to implement their policies either..

so basically there is still going to be a conservative PM. or a very low chance of a Labour one?

Yup. The guy is Boris Johnson. He's like Trump 2.0, but more competent, and with a worse haircut.

You have to be shocked that someone who thinks racism, sexism and economic matters are all critical won. It's like the US will never get it.

It doesn't have to be trump or the status quo. Things can change, but that's on the people at some point.

Yeah. Basically. But the Conservatives have no mandate and they won't be able to get much done.

They thought they'd win 100-200 seats more :mjlol:

when you say mandate, do you mean that they don't have the number of seats required to pass laws, etc?

This is oh so incredible :wow:

We've got someone who actually gives a fukk leading the party and he's just pulled off a small miracle.

We go again Corbyn :salute:

It really is. For the last 2 years this guy has had all the tories, 90% of the media and 170 out of 230 his own damn politicians attacking him . . With full party support, no media witch hunt and a couple of more weeks, no doubt he wouldve washed Mays dracula looking ass
