You cant blame it on poverty either. India and pakistan for example are poor as shyt but their violent crimes are low so in my opinion it is a cultural phenomenon.

When it comes to Latin America violence unfortunately is kinda endemic to the culture; People have a low tolerance for perceived slights/insults, and in many places the corruption and weak law enforcement infrastructure in rural areas means the might-makes-right mentality prevails.

Baltimore and St. Louis are the only American cities, Chicago is not on this list :jbhmm:

I saw that shyt and was like :merchant:
it's insane, even 20 per 100k is pretty dangerous. And at a rate 6 times as high, imagine how many people you know would get killed in your lifetime.

Yeah it basically comes down to their police force being really shytty and corrupt

That being said, a lot of Latin America isn't that dangerous, look at the murder rates for individual Mexican states for instance. A lot of them are comparable to US states, but some of their states have murder rates so high that it skews the whole country.

I think at one point Cape Town (or some South African city) was the murder capital of the world.
And while it's still dangerous...it's staggering to see that the homicides in Central America are TWICE as high.

You ever peeped how South African cacs try to portray that city as being the best in the country and Johannesburg as being a shyt hole :thisdude:
