The last sentence

Whatever the contract is with the studio. Movie theater makes the majority of their money on concessions the first few weeks a movie is out, then they start getting more of a percentage of the ticket sales the longer a film plays. Not necessarily a negative per se

Probably got kicked out of theaters for being trash
Movie almost made 200M domestic. Still a top ten movie. I didn’t check the international receipts. It was a hit regardless of its rating.

The game has changed. I haven’t seen it but it made money.
:manny:
Netflix probably paid premium.

But can't theaters show the movies as long as they want?
Discount movie theaters near me will still be showing a film months after its release
just checked $2 theater near me they still showing Twisters that came out in July.
This I dont know. Thats a good question. I believe the discount theatres have a different type of agreement but I dont know. I would think studios have some level of control since it is their property. Then you gotta consider its always new movies dropping. So even if you can show it as long as you want, do you really wanna hold on to this movie that people arent checking for anymore but you get a higher cut instead if making room for the new movie that is gonna bring more people and in turn make your more money in concessions?
