Movies don't stay in theaters very long anymore. Thanks to digital, movies will be in theaters for maybe a month or so before it's available to rent or buy a digital copy. Usually after 4 month's or so it becomes available on physical media(DVD/Blu-ray). If the movie is a huge bomb or they know it sucks, it's theater run will be cut even shorter.

Some studios may keep a movie in theaters longer to rack up a bigger box office for bragging rights (Top Gun: Maverick, Barbie, Oppenheimer, etc)

They did well in the theater, so now let's get some more eyes from the biggest streamer. And prime the audience for part 5. And since you can walk into the office and say the last one did another 2-300 million, lets make another until the wheels fall off.

Didn’t it used to take forever for movies to come out on home video, after it was in the theaters?

Saw everyone watching the recent bad boy movies on recent flights like it just came out. I think it's an adoption play for the next one since Will doing the production now.
