They building a mixed used building with Gucci/Fendi stores at the ground Floor in Harlem (around 140th & Adam Clayton). You know that building is going to price out most black folks.

I hope they get robbed.

They have the largest transit system in the country but insist on living right in the midst of everything and NOT using the transit system for thier benefit. That'd be like if Chicago had a train that could take me to Wisconsin or Indiana in 30 minutes, and the real estate was 1/3 of the price. East coast people talk so much shyt about NJ/MA but then turn around and pay 2 thousand to live in a closet in the boroughs with rats roaches and mice. :scust:

There's that many of them? :leon:
I mean you constantly see all these new apartments and condos springing up, are there really that many rich people up there and other cities in general? Not even being funny. I guess rich people move to NYC everyday. Where will all the regular folk live? Smh.

Yes, there are that many rich clear people...especially in NY. Clear people own 90% of American wealth.

Same here. I remember we used to pay about a thousand and change in rent living there. My aunt still pays about that much. She refusing to move. I can't say that I blame her.

Wasn't our mayor supposed to be doing something about affordable housing though. Like real affordable housing.

I know you know this, but for those that don't know - the affordable housing option only helps a handful of people. Generally speaking, 20% of the high rise, luxury units will be held off for poor people. To put this in perspective, most buildings host up to 500 apartments...so only 100 people are getting that deal.

The affordable housing lottery for each building can easily have a waiting list of 30,000 people. Easily.

Lol @ people complaining about prices that ain't for them. The people that can afford them don't care about prices. People that say "that's a mortgage " is further proof that home ownership is some old lame ass shyt people need to let go of.

Like I said in the random thoughts thread, apartments prices are beyond ridiculous now. Smh. Who's going to live there? I doubt many can afford those prices, so I'm guessing it's just going to be a bunch of vacant apartments and buildings right?

many of these properties are rented by or bought by foreigners who want
a place to stay in NYC or are trying to hide their money by purchasing property.

i left NYC a while ago.
no matter how frugal i was i was always broke.

I notice the quote "bu bu it's capitalism and the free market" is used frequently, with a hint of smug and dismissive tone, in other discussions to avoid indepth rationalizing about the importance of regulating greed to ensure a decent way of life(salary, employment, health care, education, entertainment, law etc) for all humans, especially when talmbowt those of us that are less fortunate, but the quote hardly appears in these rent based discussions to defend the building owners/landlords

Like with most things, there are good and bad aspects of the free market and capitalism, but the constant cold impulsive regurgitation of this quote to dismiss, minimize, and table a discussion is
shameful,
cowardly,
evidence of being brainwash to think it's the only way
and such actions will continue to have dire consequences in other forms that will eventually affect everyone regardless of class, race, wealth, education, and home location

Notice the same cold impulsive regurgitation responses occur when discussing the importance of regulating automation and AI technology in businesses because of its eventual impact on employment

High rent, citizens being priced out of reasonable living conditions, are issues easily addressable under socialism, communism and dictatorship (religious rule or not)

But again, like with most things, there are good and bad aspects of the aforementioned forms of economy and government, so why not promote and encourage the merger of the positive aspects of these entities and promote the importance of putting a human's way of life above personal profits

example: single payer, universal health care exist in other capitalistic countries but not here due to greed and the successful conditioning of the citizens to believe that it cannot work

Oh, most def. They're opening a building soon in Fort Greene, I think. I don't remember. I didn't even look twice at the list. I know that I far from qualify. Faaar from it. I'll be looking for a new crib in about 6 months. Just gotta continue to rely on hookups and inside tracks.
its crazy...I used to go to PS 161 in Crown Heights

Me too nikka... u went there with Mr. kurz and Ms Dominquez and shyt?
:russ:
Y'all remember Ms. King and how the rumor was she would clap kids with a fukking ruler. I heard so many things about Ms. King and her ruler, from it having nails to it being bloody.
And then there was bytch ass Mr. Solomon. Tried to get me suspended after defending me and my cousin from some punk ass kids from Lefferts who were trying to run our pockets. Mr. Kurtz had my back though. Shout outs to Irwin. :pacspit:

so who the fukk is going to be attending Medgar Evers?

:hhh:
Oh, best believe that that school will change to reflect the demographic. Best believe. I took a few classes there in 2010 to get my GPA up and they were building buildings and remodeling. School leadership was also hella unstable. Matter of time before CUNY puts their own figurehead in there.
