Boston and Detroit had the best overall records in the NBA, but it would’ve been difficult to pick an MVP from those teams, so it came down to Chris Paul and Kobe. True, Kobe was almost a lifetime achievement award, but he still had a great season, and they finished with the best record in the west, even beating New Orleans in a pivotal late season game that ultimately gave them the lead. Hence Kobe winning MVP. LeBron had no case to win MVP that year winning 45 games.
