They gonna do John Harbaugh like they do Mike Tomlin right?

With Tomlin - who I also dont think is getting fired - its a bit different

Steelers havent had a playoff win in a lot of years with him and while hes overachieved the offense stays archaic and offensive coordinators hes hired were questionable and/or outright bad...and he always waits too long to get them out. Their D is always good but it cant win games by itself in the offs and often the D also falls apart.

So with Tomlin I can at least understand the firing if it happens - but it likely isnt happening. Its one of those things where if the worst case scenario is not making the offs vs one and done in the offs might not be a huge difference if they doing a total rebuild

Going from Harbaugh to an uknown is a big risk for the owner.

Biggest factors in the playoffs are

Coaching
Matchups
Turnovers

Ravens has the match up but lacked the other two
Turnovers and field position today. If the center doesn’t give Lamar a bad snap, maybe that fumble doesn’t happen. If Andrews could hang onto the ball, the ravens probably win. If the refs didn’t hose the ravens on that PI call before halftime, the ravens probably win.

I think the thing with John Harbaugh is that he gives the Ravens a very high floor. I mean when was the last time he has won less than 10 games? Moving off coaches when you are a perennial playoff team/contender is highly risky.

Isn't that more of an issue for the team that doesn't have Lamar? This is a QB league and, say what you will about him, Lamar is among the best of the absolute best. If you have an elite QB in this league you have a shot. Conversely, you fire Tomlin...what are you hanging your hat on? He ain't perfect, but I think we are underestimating and taking for granted making the playoffs every year in that division. Steelers are risking becoming an irrelevant bottom feeder if they dump Tomlin. That will never be the case when you have a QB of Lamar's caliber.

First, I agree with the point of the thread....you know people get :mjpls: when it comes to Tomlin

Harbaugh though, im inclined to defend him the past few seasons...
(Posted in game thread as well)
  • He dumped Flacco (SB winner) and went all in on Jackson when no other coach in the league wouldve had the balls
  • Remade his offense around him.
  • Got him to MVP caliber, first as a run first wildcat QB (Vick 2.0), and now as a pass first playmaker. Harbaugh had the vision when no one else in the league did. Even when LJ was sniffing free agency the league stayed away.
  • Won double digits every year outside of 2021 (injuries everywhere) in the LJ era
  • Got to the AFC championship last year and again, Zay Flowers fumbled the game away

Yall just want to yell and be mad. If anything his offense let him down tonight

Theres like 2-3 teams right now the past few seasons (Niners, Ravens, ) that are right there. Doesnt mean you gotta fire everyone cause KC are the 90s Chicago Bulls
Precisely. I don't see how anyone watches last nights game and think anyone should be fired. It was too close. A drop here, a fumble there. You gotta go back to the drawing board.

They’ve had super close playoff losses before that are largely on him, but this isn’t one of them. If Andrews weren’t an all time bad playoff performer they win this one. He had a drop way downfield the play before Lamar fumbled it and cost them on each of the final two drives. It’s rare that you can definitely say “this guy cost them the game”, but this is a big example of it. 2-3 drops on the day, the fumble, and the dropped 2 point conversion. That should be his last game as a raven. He’s been bad enough in the playoffs for long enough that you can’t trust him to ever show up when it matters.
