Robert Smalls and Martin Delany don't even have movies yet, but this is what's being made. :unimpressed:

There is no movie, show or anything else about Emmitt Till that can be more powerful than the photos showing his corpse. A black man was just shot over 40 times barely a month ago, we don't need to be "reminded" of shyt.

Yes we do

The youth should see this, but I already know the story and seen the pic. No need to subject myself to a cinematic retelling :sadcam:

c00n pawgers might be mad, but oh well

Never forget the Jewish League paid for schools in our area to go see Schindler's List.

i could see this one thing in the trailer potentially triggering some people, but alot of black folks are going to think the part where there are picking cotton is like inaccurate, but black people were still picking cotton around that time. My mother was born in 1949 and she and some of my uncles and aunties picked cotton in Arkansas. Sharecropping lasted a long ass time.

But I have desire to see this, maybe as a download and i'm bored. Like we already know its not going to end well.
Yup, my dads mother people in Georgia were still sharecropping well into the 50s/60s. He said he remembers going down there in the summer and having to help out on the land as a shorty

The whole point of why black Americans should know the history here isn’t to feel bad or to feel like victims

It’s to come up with solutions and learn lessons and adapt. History is pattern recognition for people who don’t get math lol.

Also the recent eras of history aren’t episodic, it very much blends together. Vestiges of the past still remain that currently affect us

I’m on the side of fukk this movie at the moment because I think it’s a cash grab from Hollywood.

Cacs love watching black trauma on the big screen, but know we tired of the slavery and modern day police brutality plot lines, so now they going back to the civil rights for ideas and tryna make it “inspirational”

How can I really expect this film to touch on the points I need it to when it’s directed by someone born in Nigeria and raised in ALASKA?! I’m usually not on that ADOS shyt, but for things like this I gotta side with choosing a black American director because I know y’all seen the BS they pulled with that “passing” film
