Most children, I’m assuming, aren’t familiar with this story. I don’t see the problem, when Republicans are trying to wipe clean any mention of black trauma from the history books our children read, in bringing awareness to this horrific crime and the miscarriage of justice that continues to this day as the woman who falsely accused him continues to walk free.

As they should :mjpls: .. The Emmett Till story has been buried for the last few decades.. Unless your into Black History, you most likely wouldn't know about it..Most schools don't teach about. Its literally the reason for the Civil Rights
But the story shouldn't have a movie or 2 because it Black Trauma/Porn?:martin:
I was 12 when I got Ice Cube's Lethal Injection and Cube mentioned Emmitt Till on "Cave bytch." First time I heard the name. Of course every rapper is cool to me and want to know who Cube is talking about and read up on the story of Emmitt Till in the library after working on a school project. Never heard his name again until 17 and took a black history course my junior year in HS.
Rappers was putting me on to history.

and the same "black trauma porn" crowd gets mad when cacs are openly trying to revise or soften their history of racism and fukkery because it hurts their feelings.

Robert Smalls and Martin Delany don't even have movies yet

It will get created when black men put our heads together, establish our own studios, and put up $50 million to create it.

Until then - its only gonna be movies about slavery, crime, jim crow, and white men beating black kids to death.

I won’t lie, that’s a good trailer and it seems well done. Couple real good performances especially the mother, and I’m sure there will be Oscar noms. But I can’t support this. I doubt they’ll even show his mangled face in the movie, thus contradicting the point and instead directing us to another truth: this is another historical black trauma film that you’re supposed to feel empowered by. As if the only way we can possibly feel good after a movie is from cape shyt (BP) or a civil rights/slavery movie. I’m tired of this dynamic and it has to stop. Of course there’s a generation of older black people who will flock to see this, and younger ones too. So it’ll keep happening. We will keep getting these films instead of films like every other race gets.

Mufukkas NEED to see this just like Roots, Mississippi Burning and Eyes on the Prize.

ALL "White" people need to die.
Why though? We see black people dying on the news daily from starvation, killing, drugs, disease, police brutality, etc.
Black people see black trauma daily and badly need some escapism, inspiration and respite. Being stressed all the time is harmful.
They should be making historical/fantasy movies filled with black people with no racism and trauma in sight.

Why even make this movie when his murders got off scot-free and the demon that caused all of this is still alive?
The worst part is that there are still Emmett Tills to this day (Tamir Rice, Trayvon, Ahmaud Arbery).
So his story has as a horrific ending and almost 70 years later the problems he faced are still unsolved.
The correct way to tell his story is in the form of a documentary, not a movie.
