NBA bound players can hire whoever they want.

From my understanding only players who take advantage of the clause where they go through the draft process but then decide to come back to college would get affected if they hire an agent that doesn't fit the criteria.

From the NCAA standpoint, they don't want players getting bad advice from unqualified people and lose players. It hurts their product. NCAA ain't shyt, but they're an organization trying to make money so it makes sense from their viewpoint whether you think that's ethical or unethical.

I don't think this is specifically targeting Rich Paul because he has superstar clients and would most likely attract superstar college players who won't be backing out of the draft.

It doesn't even really matter, the NBA is gonna remove the one and done rule within 2 years so :yeshrug:

NAME ME ONE FRINGE DRAFT PICK
RICH PAUL HAS EVER REPRESENTED.

2NDLY FRINGE DRAFT PICKS
CAN STILL HIRE RP.
THEY JUST CANT RETURN TO SCHOOL.

WHICH WAS ALWAYS THE RULE FOR HIRING ANY AGENT
BEFORE LAST SEASON.

My question was outside of RP...which is why I asked why is the rule in place.

You said this rule was always in place....

I was asking has the qualifications been in place and if so why does it seem like a new rule and whom does it benefit with the NCAA behind it? Seems like something new to everyone with the qualifications...

Those closest to the sport or actively playing are unanimously calling it one way, The Coli and its mods say everyone else that disagrees with them doesn’t understand the change and questions media members credentials because of the disagreement.

You people are fukking weird.

Nah breh, they hate LeBron and Rich Paul THAT much that they pretend to be blind to the obvious. You got cats in here trying to tell people that the NCAA is just looking out for the interest of the Black players they already exploit financially :mjtf::russ:

THE NCAA JUST BEGAN ALLOWING PLAYERS
TO HIRE AGENTS AND RETURN TO COLLEGE
LAST YR.

BEFOREHAND IF YOU HIRED AN AGENT
YOU COULDNT RETURN TO SCHOOL...

SO IN THE 2ND SEASON OF THIS NEW RULE
THEY ADDED THE DEGREE.

RICH PAUL DOESNT fukk WITH
FRINGE DRAFTEES
SO PPL PRETENDING THIS HAD ANYTHING
TO DO WITH HIM IS LAUGHABLE.

This really only affects a small percentage of players for now and I think they're gearing up for when they get rid of the one and done rule. Probably wanna make sure the highschool kids aren't left in the cold if they fringe draft picks :yeshrug:

I can respect that...but this doesn't seem odd that now ya'll are looking at the NCAA of all people to "protect" as you say high school(black kids)?

Now they are looked at as "protectors" for our young black men?

Please explain....

Really weird watching posters trying to downplay this.
Its hella "agents" on here. This is clearly a new age literacy test:

Literacy Tests

Literacy tests were used for years to lock out black people from voting. They were outlawed by the civil rights act but they really just evolved and moved into the workforce with the 4yr college degrees that all the decent jobs require. When that stopped working they started requiring you to go to a "top" school aka pay almost 6 figures for the degree.

This is all about the good ole boys gatekeeping and preventing these mostly black players from empowering their family and friends. They don't give a damn about the kids.

I understand how they implemented the rule over the years..

I just wanted to make sure you/ya'll anit all of sudden supporting the NCAA if all people...even if this doesn't directly correlate to RP, fukk supporting that shyt..

And ask why are they now adding to the rule, as you said.....what's the point? Is this not a correlation to individual empowerment that we are seeing growing in the NBA? Can your cousin, friend or brother now not be ruled out to represent you from the start? No uncle Dennis out the gate? No Tobias Harris dad out the gate?

Who are they weeding out? Who do you have to go through first?

NCAA has no decision on this new rule, the NBA is instilling it. NBA throwing them a bone because maybe a few guys will go/stay in school if they're stock is shaky. Once the one and done rule is gone, they're taking the Zion's and AD's

Why does the NCAA(mostly white)get to make the rule? To your point take it back to the NBAPA(most black)and let them adjust/agree on the rule..

Yes they're all wrong. Again, how does this rule prevent a rich Paul situation? How does this rule prevent another Rich Paul from representing an NBA player? I'll wait. If you cant answer the question you should probably be more critical of the people you keep posting opposed to those who are using common sense.
It puts an additional handcuff on people, that wasn't needed the other 109 years since the NCAA has been around.... No it's not going to stop Rich Paul himself from conducting NBA business. What it is going to stop, is guys LIKE Rich Paul from becoming agents IN THE SAME FASHION....

Lets say this year another star breaks out and decides he wants to test the waters... Where LAST YEAR, he could just hire Rich Paul/his friend/dad/brother/whoever the fukk he wants cause this is america... THIS YEAR he has to be FORCED to sign to a guy they deem worthy. fukk what the kid wants. fukk he's a grown ass man. fukk he's trying to get a job outside of the college that the college has no rights to......

NOPE... we need to ok the guy who's gonna demand 15% off you. And if he didn't go to a school we deem credible, with a degree deemed credible, and take a test we deem credible..... Well then fukk whoever you trust, love, wants to give you a deal, won't charge you, whatever.... NOPE.... you gonna pick from these guys with this criteria... And even if you have a nikka with a PH.D and doesn't miss a question on the test.... If he only decided to do this once you got to a senior in high school.......... He's still a year too early to even be allowed to rep you anyway

Yea this is some bullshyt, directed at the fact Rich came in and swooped top players, with no cred, no degree and no experience... and is not only doing it, but dictating where the greatest players play and how much they want to play........... Oh yea... This was a direct shot like "You nikkas won't be doing this shyt ever again"

Nah yall are just blatantly wrong and were misled by folks that didnt do their research. The rule states that a player cant return to school if they hire an unqualified agent. Now ask yourself, how does that affect rich Paul or any type of rich Paul archetype? Rich paul has only signed elite prospects and current NBA players. Rich Paul will not be signing players that may go undrafted. The NCAA has no interest in preventing rich Paul from signing the players he has signed, elite prospects. The only threat rich Paul poses to the NCAA is signing players straight outta high school, and if that happens the player is ineligible anyways. So yea do your research next time.

This rule is designed to funnel would be undrafted/late 2nd rounders back to college for another year.
