Was it confirmed the sons gave permission?

Anything for a buck it seems.
The entity that manages King’s intellectual property, Intellectual Property Management, is run by his son, Dexter King. It says it approved the ad.

“We found that the overall message of the ad embodied Dr. King’s philosophy that true greatness is achieved by serving others. Thus we decided to be a part of Ram’s ‘Built To Serve’ Super Bowl program,” said Eric Tidwell, managing director of the firm, in a statement.

To create the spot, Fiat Chrysler, which owns the Ram brand, says it worked with the King estate to get the necessary approvals.

So Steven Spielberg's lawyers pulled a 'put it in the vault to prevent access' on King's speech. And the King family lawyers signed off on it.

Spielberg only has movie rights to a certain timeline of speeches. They basically have digitally parked there and no other movies can use them when depicting a civil rights movie. Nothing else.

In a nutshell, Yolanda king was the oldest child, Bernice is the youngest. 2 brothers in the middle. Yolanda fought to protect the integrity of mlk with Coretta. The three King women shared a equal vote in the estate. Coretta died. Yolanda died right after her. So now the vote is 3 parts instead of 5. No Coretta or Yolanda to veto dumb shyt, Bernice is by herself and outvoted. Bernice runs the king center/Ebenezer wing and her two brothers are the money grubbing intellectual property managers. They about the bag and basically cancel out her vote. Mlk 3 and Dexter own several mult million dollar homes and never worked a for anything but the king brand. Hence bullshyt like selling his bible, letters, and speeches
