In a move everyone expected since, I don’t know, last summer, Tom Thibodeau was dismissed Thursday morning.
He becomes the third real coach hired and fired since Paxson became the hoops honcho in 2003. I’m not counting Pete Myers and Jim Boylan because no one else does. I’m looking at Scott Skiles, Vinny Del Negro and now Thibodeau.
Paxson has hired a taskmaster, a joke and a taskmaster.

Paxson fired Skiles on Christmas Eve because Paxson’s roster wouldn’t listen to Paxson’s coach.
Paxson fired Del Negro shortly after Paxson yanked on his tie in a near-fight or actual dust-up because Paxson’s coach wouldn’t listen to the way Paxson wanted players used.

The latest failure from Paxsonpalooza comes about because Paxson’s coach wanted to win every game with Paxson’s players no matter what, forcing Paxson’s front office to impose minutes restrictions on Paxson’s players that Paxson’s coach had to obey.
Paxson apparently didn’t know what Paxson’s coach believed in. How could Paxson not know that about Paxson's coach?
That would seem like bad judgment in hiring and dealing with a coach. But not, apparently, to Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf.
Get a load of this statement near the top of the “Ta-Ta, Tom” press release:

“While the head of each department of the organization must be free to make final decisions regarding his department, there must be free and open interdepartmental discussion and consideration of everyone’s ideas and opinions. That’s the chairman saying Thibodeau can’t work and play well with others. Sort of an “I confess, he’s the bad guy” take.
That’s also the Bulls saying nyah-nyah-nyah to Thibodeau mouthpiece Jeff Van Gundy.
The next coach to be fired by Paxson likely will be Fred Hoiberg, presuming he wants to make the jump from Iowa State.
Another possibility is Alvin Gentry, working Steve Kerr’s bench for the Western Conference champion Warriors.
But you know who Paxson should name coach?
Himself, that's who. That way, the next coach Paxson fires would bring about significant change for an organization working on two decades without a title.
