Ehh it doesn't always work on that
Thibs was also high on moving up to get McDermott
It's petty shyt
It's not too early to call, it would take a serious injury to Nurkic for Doug to be better than him, 3 years younger and looks like the second coming of Marc Gasol but meaner.
I posted the moment we made that trade that we fukked up.
But Thibs was high on Doug, he played for the US practice squad and Thibs talked about how he could do whatever he wanted offensively even if people knew what he was gonna do.
And then didn't play him.
Thibs also wanted Kirk back, who we kept over DJ this year.
I've already stated that I would be happy with a new coach and management.
To me we've approached each season after 2010-11 incorrectly.
This year, in addition to our top player returning from his 2nd serious knee injury in 3 years we added:
A 34 year old big man with a history of injury problems to a frontcourt that already had two good players with a highly touted Euro on the way
Knew Noah's knees were fukked up, said he was only having minor surgery when it seems like dude is playing bone on bone, but came in with Nazr as the backup 5
Traded Nurkic/Harris, two guys that filled a need and Nurkic looked like a true talent, for Doug McDermott, someone that clearly had some question marks about his athleticism, how he'd be able to get his shot off and defend and also played the position of our #1 FA target
Niko, a guy that we've been hyping since 2010 as that dude from Europe, but put him in a position where he wasn't gonna get tick unless someone got hurt or we played him at sf which takes away his strengths
Who knows what this team would've done if Jimmy didn't take that massive leap he did
