First, sorry breh about the water situation. Same thing happened to one of my boys.:wow:

Indeed, the bills/ unexpected maintenance are/is no joke but I rest on the assurance that I'm gaining equity/ wealth with our property.

One thing never talked about with us was the improvements you'd want to make...if that makes sense. We've been in our house for 8 years now and have spent maybe thousands on landscaping and the backyard. It is worth it (more living space and such) but that shyt adds up like a mf. Luckily, with the pandemic, I've taking the time to learn how to do things myself (cutting costs); creating a new hobby of sorts. Talked to our realtor and she said, with the improvements made, we've added approx $30k to the sales price...if we decided to sell.:wow:

My wife and I sit back and watch as our families love the improvements we've made on some:obama:.

EDIT: Reading through this thread, I see folks having issues with rodents and, brehs, we did too especially during the 1st year of ownership. Went through the house, patching up holes, spraying peppermint oil everywhere, setting traps, etc., and haven't any issues since. Additionally, we have cats that stay under our backyard deck and, initially, we was kicking them out but, after the "infestation," we decided to let them ride. Best decision made.:wow:

damn that’s fukked up…when I saw the title I’m not bullshytting when I said I wanted to come in here and say “water is not your friend” before I knew what you were gonna share…I remember years ago (first house) my shower head had a weird but minor leak that I procrastinated about (it takes absolutely nothing to replace a shower head…nothing) that eventually resulted in me having to re-tile the entire fukking bathroom :francis:

any major home issue/expense I’ve dealt with was the result of fukking water…leaky roofs, faucet, pipes, shower head, flooding, etc.

All of the little new bills that add up. Just found out the house as a leak between our main line water supply and the city connection. shyt is 4k to fix. Last year we had issues with the septic and switched to city waste. shyt was 15k. Between that and all the regular maintenance sometimes I wanna go back to renting lol. We've gained over 200k in equity since the pandemic but those gains aren't really seen unless we sell. Anybody else kinda regret buying?
What city you live in?

The Truth
Good thread, nice to see every angle when making big decisions

Ive actually been thinking about purchasing a condo instead of a actual house. As much as I would want space and all that, I saw what my mom went through owning a large home and that shyt is work if youre single.

If anything, i would rather buy land or build my house
