There’s one conversation Avon and Stringer have in prison where I think Avon is considering having D killed.

D doesn’t want to lessen his sentence after the hot shots and is distancing himself from everyone…Avon uncharacteristically asks Stringer for reassurance that he’s been fair to D.

It seemed like Avon was mentally preparing and justifying what he may do in the future.

Stringer just went ahead and did it.
When they got into it during season 3 and String told him "I took it off you and put it on me" was a throwback to that. Avon talked about it but wasn't going to pull the trigger because of who it was. Once they was all sitting in the funeral home (they safehouse) and Avon told D momma "you think I could have done this to him" was basically telling us that he wasn't ever gonna do it.

Storytelling on this shyt was next level and I don't think we will EVER see anything like it again.

HE GOT THE VACANTS RAIDED!!

I'm not sure what affinity you have for him, but he snitched every single time he got caught... Just like real life, if you ain't ready for the punishment, then stop doing things against the rules

Randy wanted to sell candy, then tell on who wrote on walls... Watch out for bathroom sex, then tell about a murder... Even before he said "i know about a murder," he told about 5 other things he knew that wasn't good enough to stop the lady

nikka was ratting every chance he got.. That was the biggest threat who turned out to be the biggest threat. Without him, cops still don't even care about Marlo cause no bodies was dropping
No, what got the vacant raided was prez giving bunk and Lester a hint. And Jesus, if you think some little kid tattle telling is worthy of firebombing, we can stop. Dude was fukking traumatized from being in group homes and didn’t want to go back, dude was trying to “be good” - an issue a lot of abandoned kids struggle with and think they need to be to have a family stick with them/adopt them. Dude wasn’t some griseled high school street nikka giving up his partner in crime.

And the cops did care about Marlo, they was frustrated they couldn’t link him to bodies knowing what a king pin he was :dahell:

And my concern with Randy is there are a lot of decent young black boys in the hood like him who can’t get the support they need to not end up hardened, locked up, and failing at life. Breh clearly wasn’t gonna a be president but he had a zeal for life and would’ve probably been a normal productive citizen. Now he’s back in the system, deflated and not giving a fukk and likely to get locked up. I don’t think a 13 yr old deserved that cuz some older (grown) dudes decided to rain down terror on him.

Man that scene was amazing. The tension you could feel it as a viewer.

The symbolism in the clothes.

Brianna wearing red. She the victim. Her son was killed. Or you can say she had him sacrificed. She made him take the years.

Avon wearing white cuz he's innocent

Stringer wearing black cuz he's guilty

There's a scene in season 1 i think where they are playing basketball in the gymnasium
Avon, Wee-Bey, Stinger and Stinkum

Avon & Wee-Bey are wearing orange what indicates orange jump suits ( prison) and Stinger and Stinkun are wearing black what indicates death

I think its about episode 4 as well of season 1 and they thought all that out that early considering Stringer don't get popped until end of season 3

And that had older kids/young adults fukking with him - the people who did the firebomb looked 18-22.

I think they just used an older actor in this case to play an 8th grader. He definitely looks and sounds older than 13-14.

The guy who calls 911 to get the cop car to leave before the firebombing was part of the fight at school. He’s on the far right in braids. He’s got the same red shirt on so he should be an 8th grader.

Prez gave him the info based on what? He just made it up in his head? He talked to the kid

I don't wanna hear no excuses nikka... Everybody in the game had a sob story.. D had a sob story. Ratting is ratting.. He wasn't trying to be good. He was selling candy when he didn't have to, none of the other kids was... He was watching doors and doing shyt that was clearly wrong, hence him needing to snitch to get out

What was wrong with going to class and going home?

Above the fray.
Not sure if its a goof/editing error, but when Bodie stares at the guys in the lockup dorm, pay attention to the 2nd and 4th faces.

As he makes his way out of the building, seconds later, those 2 guys are mysteriously locked in the cells that he passes and stares into.

If cops were required to wear bodycams back then like they do now, quite a few azzwhoopins would not have been given in The Wire universe :sadbron:

Bodie gets beat so much by the cops that he says “give me a ride to my grandma’s and we’ll call it even” after being punched in the face while sitting down, minding his own business.

Just finished watching season 3. Best season imo. So much to unpack and you pick up different things on multiple re watches.

A show will never have this type of writing.

Episode 6 Cutty leaves the game and Avon drops the infamous he a man today line.

What is amazing that Avon asks Cutty what is he gonna do? He ain't done shyt else. Avon is asking himself this question. Cutty did something Avon could never do. Be man enough to walk away. The game is everything to Avon.

Earlier in episode 6 Stringer and Avon disagree on Marlo.

Avon ends the discussion by telling Stringer I ain't no suit and tie business man like you. I'm just a gangsta I suppose.

This level of detail will never be done again

Randy had a knack for selling and hustling.. that would of come in handy later in life when more opportunities were available in better markets.

You mentioned the first video is Avon asking himself that question….the second video also applies to Avon when Stringer is talking about Marlo.

Stringer saying he will try to talk to Marlo but it won’t be overnight because Marlo only knows what he knows…he might as well be talking about Avon. He spends all season trying to get Avon to see his way, and it doesn’t work, Avon only knows his way.

It’s only after Stringer gets killed when Avon changes his views and says “Stringer was right….fukk this war over a couple of corners”
