i have to stop you right there. sorry you dont have a language of your own as you are american, maybe british whatever, but it isnt that easy to be able to speak your native language when youre not raised in the country. Growing up I used to be able to understand a lot more Akan than now. Enough to understand some of what grownups were saying during a convo. But as i continued growing up (born in Toronto) i became that much more assimilated and was surrounded by English. Combine that with the fact that my parents didnt speak too much of it and now I can barely understand any of it. Doesnt mean I wasnt raised to be a Ghanaian and dont identify with my counterparts. Dont be ignorant breh . Phoneme sensitivitty aint no joke

True...Everyone in the generation before mine speaks Patois, and they always spoke it around me growing up...But they never really taught me, but I can understand them perfectly (except my aunt who never really lived anywhere outside of Belize, sometimes I have to ask her to repeat herself)...
