Thinking of joining the Military

No job, doing crappy in school, broke, unmotivated and have no idea what I want to do in life.

Army, Navy, Marines? Any one have some experience in these branches?

I don't know breh shyts depressing. I need some purpose in life and I don't think I'm cut out for this academic shyt. Any advice for a young breh?

@ the Marines unless you really about that life...they break you down in bootcamp..you really have to buy into the Marine way of life..

I have experience with the Navy, alot of my friends went Army though....you'll have a better shot at advancing there than in the Navy. Though if you just looking to save money,and get ya gi bill then the Navy isn't bad at all.

Yeah, I was leaning more towards the Navy tbh.

Can you go more in depth about the Air Force though? I didn't list it because I'm not the biggest fan of air combat though I'm sort of ignorant to that branch.

in the same boat as you Op. thinking about the airforce, but i gotta lose 20 pounds before the recruiter can even talk to me( his words). Got my ASVAB book been studying for a while now. my dad is about to retire from the Marines been in 20+ years and he tells me the airforce is the best way to go.

ill probably try to learn a trade like Hvac or Electrician or just go the IT Route

Best thing about the military =

1.Steady paycheck
2.The people you meet..some will become friends for life
3.Easy in with chicks
4.gi bill...you pretty much get paid to goto school


The amount of shyt I put up with was nuts though......but I joined at a time where I hated school and mom pretty much wasn't satisfied unless I was working two jobs.

Try searching for trade school/trade jobs first.

If you MUST join a service, I'd recommend Air Force first, Navy as the second choice. Get some good engineering experience in there that will open up a lot of doors for you.

Ain't nothing wrong with being in the military. I'm Air Force and I recently went back to my hometown, and most of the dudes I went to HS with aren't doing much better after almost 15 years. If you're going to join, go Air Force. It's about the most 9-5 you're going to get, just that you have to wear a uniformAnd your job doesn't have to involve airplanes at all.
Also some folks are bogged down with student loans. Air Force paid for my Bachelor's and they're footing the bill for this Master's I'm working on.

Outside of actually joining the military, this is the advice I'd personally give you OP.

Whatever you join, remember that we are gearing up for war again. With the political mess the Democrats have made, you can pretty much expect a Right Leaning White House for at least 4 years. Expect war, brehs! No seriously! Everybody is sleeping. Obama pretty much p*ssyfooted with everybody on the war front. When a Republican gets in they will want to show they won't be the same way. We even have a new boogeyman lined up. Al Qaeda on the way out and ISIS on the way in.
